Im looking for a Wine and Beer warehouse in Calais
I dont want the British seller who posts there prices on there web site in pounds like Im paying the duty free rate on the airplane or ferry
I want the traditional French salt and sawdust, like there toilets but at the traditional French plonk prices
I dont know if there are any vin yards in that neck of the woods but if there are I want a real entrepot du vin
Thats where I can go in and sample the wine from a mini watering can and take my 5 liter drums in and have them filled from the barrel
Years ago there was a good wine cellar under the railway arches in Boulogne but as i said that was back in the 90s lots of wine at all different prices . And when we went wasn,t full of tourist also sold some beer. hope that helps
There are heaps around Calais but most are aimed at day trippers.
Maybe ask a Frenchman for nearest cave when in the town. Or go to tourist office !
I know of one in ouistreham but that’s not a lot of help is it !
Yer I would very much imagine they are for day trippers given its location it must be a haven for Brits as first stop for cheep booze

i go to lidle for mine come out the tunnel head towrds calais come off at junc 44 at the end of the slipway turn left upto roundabout turn right 100 yards next roundabout turn left next roundabout go right [ignore the no trucks sign] 100 yards on the right is lidle the carpark is huge case of 24 stubbies are 4.59 euros about 3.70 gb pounds plenty of cheap wine as well and not the end of line crap you get from some of the bigger ones you can turn round in the carpark no probs the french gov upped the tax on beer two weeks ago by 8 % ouch dont know when it comes into force
If you are only going on your push bike DON’T BOTHER! Whats the point in spending 20 on a ferry ticket quid to save 15 quid on booze? Stay at home and walk to tour nearest supermarket of choice.
