Wilson 1000 cb antenna

Hi I’ve had difficulty with my Wilson 1000 Mag Mount. I’ve tested the coil using a continuity tester but can’t get a reading between the chrome mast at top of antenna and the centre pin or threads at the base. Any help most appreciated.

Most likely to be a break in the feeder. (Coax.)

Ken.

I’ve read your posting several times, Scotchbaz. Correct me if I’m misunderstanding, you are testing the whip and coil only. Sounds like a break in the coil. Just check every thing is screwed up tight.
If I’m correct then the aerial is goosed and if you have only just got it, swap it.
Hope this helps

If I were you scotchbaz I’d chuck it in the bin and buy a “proper” antenna,

I can personally recommend the K40, :sunglasses:

there’s a bloke at our place got one of them cb wilson 1000 jobbies and its useless, if you can’t see him you can’t hear him.

My own personal opinion, I found the Sirio Hypower 4000 receives better than a full length 1/4 wave whip (9ft) I found a weak signal and swapped the aerials to give a side by side comparison…
OK I trimmed a chunk off the whip to get it to load up on 29.6 MHz (The Amateur 10 metres FM portion) but it will load up OK on the UK CB channels as well as the whole of 10 metres.
Good Luck
Tony

Thanks for the replies, I’m now on my fourth antenna and am sure the coil on this one is u/s, however maybe it has something to do with my cb which is a President Jackson 2 with the RU mod. :unamused:
