Willington, CT TA. One for Pat?

After having my turbo/intercooler hose come off on Sunday due to a failed clamp, I limped in to the TA at Willington, Connecticut on I84 to buy a new clamp and get on my way. I’d never been in that TA before but understood it to be a paid parking location. Upon arrival I found the gatehouse deserted and the ticket machine not working. Is it free parking there now or is this just a weekend thing?

No, it’s not free, the gate guy comes and goes, it’s very unfair. Did you get a ticket from the machine ? if not wander over and get one, as the guy on the gate say’s (when he is there) “No ticket ? twenty dollars”
I don’t know what the charge is but it’s free if you spend so much in the diner or shop or buy 50 gallons of fuel.
Good food in that diner and a very attractive Asian waitress if you get the right shift
On the other hand it may have been off for the holiday LOL

No I didn’t get a ticket, I pressed the button but nothing happened and then limped directly over to the workshop with the poor old girl making a racket with its turbo whistle x 100. I was in there for less than two hours any way. My intercooler clamp only came to $18 but what is the score with regards paying for parking I wonder when you’re there for repairs?

I woud imagine when you are in for repairs and you have a copy of the work sheet / invoice they have no right to charge you.
When I was doing the Boston to Tampa mail run leading up to Christmas 2006 I parked in the TA just outside Tampa and went to a hotel for 3 days, when I got back to the truck I was prepared to pay big time, as I pulled up to the kiosk I reached out with the ticket and a gust of wind bew it down the road, “When did you come in ?” asked the woman.
“About an hour ago” I said …
“Drive on”

Lol nice one. Is that the poxy TA just east of Tampa that doesn’t have a restaurant and just a crappy fast food joint, across the road from one of the smallest Flying J’s known to mankind? If so I had the misfortune of having a reset there in November 2010 only to then reload over in Vero Beach on the Atlantic coast where it later transpired there was a free truckstop with plenty of parking and within east bobtail distance of the beach!
