Wrong there,there was a nationalisation of the breweries in Carlisle to curb excessive drinking of factory workers during the First world war,lasted upto Thatcher in the late 70’s.

Again this is a fascinating thread what a complex logistics contract this must be, there are probably no other hauliers who could do such a large turnkey project like Willi Betz.
I must admit though I am surprised that Willi Betz gave up the Toyota contract.
I asked one his bold warriors a while back , somewhere in France, Beune i think it was and he told me that the bulk of Willy,s still massive Euro fleet are gaily ploughing around the Eastern regions of the Empire… Afghanistan is included in their itinerary so its still a good job you and I hail from West of the Berlin Wall…the poor old Bulgies and other Easties not being quite so fortunate… as a sidenote i was chatting (as you do) with a Roumo chauffeur who had managed to find his way to Zona Franca a while back, he told me that because of a driver shortage in the old country due to most of the male population exiting for pastures new, the Roumanian Transport companies had hired a bunch of chaps from a little further south, India in fact, so where will they appear from next in this race to the bottom, Mexico is a front runner according to a Dutchman i dined with last year, Happy Trails to you.

Yes Willi Betz trucks begin less running plus they affect by Europe recession I believe now Willi Betz are not quite big company not same as old time due influx of Eastern European hauliers offers cheap competitives than Willi Betz. Look at Hungarian Waberers trucks with sun smiley face livery seen everywhere in Europe and they keep continue growing bigger operate at momentWilli Betz has won the contract and work for American Army Force and NATO supplies, they doing pick up loads from Latvia - Riga Port that ship come from America to LV and driving to Afghanistan through Belarus, Russia, Kazahstan Ubzek and Turkmenistan. I have heard they are doing big numbers trucks about 500 - 1000 trucks go there - busy daily work. That’s why you may have not see lots of Willi Betz trucks around in UK or Europe
