I’ll keep this short and sweet, my current company is going to be going through some big changes soon (money saving changes…) and I believe my contract is going to change for the worse. I’m a relatively new driver of 3 years and been here for 2, on my time off I want to search for a new job however if I have to do an assessment at a new place I am worried that my current work place will find out when I download my card.
So my question is can my current company see I did 45 mins driving on a day off and give them the some suspicion I’m looking for other work?
Thanks all
Yes they will but on the upside, they may question you why you’re looking for a new job. Great chance to tell them why If they want to keep you (most do) then they may help
Yes they’ll find out you’ve driven on your card, but why are you even worried mate.
You’ve already said they are going to change your t.s and c.s for the worse, so what do they expect.
There is no employer to employee loyalty anymore, so just crack on.
There are lots of jobs out there despite all the ‘‘driver shortage’’ bullcrap.

They find out when your card is downloaded as the number plate of the motor you did the assessment in flags up as not recognised. That’s when questions are raised.
In my case the office woman discreetly asked me, “Have used a wagon to move house or have you worked for somebody else or have you, you know err, been for a, you know?”
“A driving assessment? In two different wagons on 18th May and 22nd September!”
As Robroy says, no employer to employee loyalty at all these days.
Put the shoe on the other foot, if a new employee comes for an assessment at your place, your employer expects that driver to put a card in to drive their vehicle so then that drivers employer finds out and so on. It’s not like the old days of analogue where you could hide the card.
The prospective new employer will get you to sign a disclaimer to say that you have had enough daily rest before and after the assessment.

More likely “because of” rather than “despite”…?

Ok cheers I didn’t think that one through.
It should have read something like…‘’ There are plenty jobs out there, and not because of the driver shortage thing, which is bullcrap’’
(If there was a driver shortage there would be plenty of jobs anyway. )
I must try harder next time.
