the old PC is in its last death throes I think.
I doubled the RAM last year and it is only using about an eighth of the memory. The monitor blew its light tubes so I replaced it with a bigger better reclaimed one. Next was the graphics card, replaced at a reasonable cost by Amazon from Nvidia. Today I ordered a new PSU from Amazon. the old PSU when turned on, spins the fan for a second and then shuts down, is this the end of my troubles or am I going to be spending money on a new motherboard next week. I think it has done quite well as it has been running for 18 hours a day for 2 or 3 years and is about 4 years old. Are we doomed do you think?
I have bought an all singing soldering iron to repair a kindle I have, so is it beyond me to replace capacitors in the graphics card and motherboard PCB of a PC?
The guy in the shop said throw it away, and buy a new one, but in the immortal words of Miss Rice - Davies: “He would, wouldn’t he?”
