Waiting in the office last night 2200 ish at Folkestone for my amended ticket a guy comes in (English) and says am I ok to park outside for 9hours as I’m out of time■■?
Guy says no as the police will move you on after an hour…
So why would you arrive at the terminal that close to running out of time■■?
it took 10mins max to get your ticket and park at information office
The Q was for scanner so after office…
He may have broken down on the way, and the boss said just get as far as you can get, and the delivery slot can not be amended, i am just summising.
most places he goes to are probably decent enough to offer parking or maybe direct him to somewhere appropriate.
he may not have been out of time, but getting close to it.
also, if he parked say 30 minutes away, he has then lost 30 minutes that day, and a he will lose 30 minutes the following day, this will become an hour, as he will probably be doing the same later on.
not getting as close as possible to where you are tipping or loading before taking your time off is the work of someone that either has little experience or shouldn’t be in the job.

Well as he had to ask, he didn’t know in advance that he wouldn’t be able to park there.
You can park at Calais, so it seems reasonable to expect to be able to park at Folkstone.
As long as things were quiet I’d expect to be able to park there, in the freight office parking area.
Like Limeyphil and Toby say. If you need to get as far as possible, you don’t park up 30 minutes away from a large, empty enough parking area. You go to that parking area, unless you know you can’t park there.
I’m sure we’ve all tried the please feel sorry for me and let me park, even when we know it’s no parking
I will always park up within my time somewhere I feel happy/safe rather than run to the limit and look an even bigger ■■■■■ .
But maybe I’m just lucky having a boss that just let’s me get on with organising what I’m doing…
As for being able to park in Calais so assume you can park in good old blighty . I think he would be living in cloud cuckoo land if he thought that

You can only park in the parking areas at Calais outside of the terminal though, once through the ticket barrier you have no chance.

But park the other side of the road on the mud with no proper parking and unlit they will leave you alone. Go figure.
