Interesting thread and reading through the posts highlights a few things that i agree with. I also note that some previous steady input posters have “deserted” , mebbe more variety on Facebook.
Appreciation and respect is all, sadly that is lacking now and again, some regional threads come across as cliquey, others very open and appreciative of time taken to find photos for their “local” thread. What fine examples Saviem and Dave the Renegade were, greatly missed ((RIP).
I collected pictures of buses and lorries when I was a kid (pasted into old jotters, deterioration took its toll)) and will continue to collect and share where they are appreciated.
Sarcasm veiled as banter is a big turn off.
The DEANB/ Paul Gee photos have been a shot in the arm well done them, deserving of top of the page billing.
Ghosters, well I’m one, first cup of tea back o’ six (phone, not signed in) and last thing before bed

Spoken very diplomatically Oily, there are some members on here that discourage other members putting over their respective views by being within a clique,as you have said, and whilst they are few in number, they still “bully” their opinions to the detriment of TNUK as a whole,so it’s hardly surprising that membership is diminishing, shame though.
I have been a member on this site for a number of years and I started driving fuel tankers in 1976. I started off on AEC Mandator,Mammoth Majors , Fodens with the 12 speed box . The reason I don’t post too often is I posted all my photos a long time ago and now I log in to look at some of the amazing photos on here,And to keep up with the long running battle between Bewick and carryfast. Here is me a youngster of 21 years.
Hello Lawrence, just seen your picture with the guitar,I hope you are a member of the “Musicians Union”
Div`nt try and get any music gigs,if you have not got an MU card. You mentioned the “Harp” in your post,
I bet you prefer your “Harp” in a pint glass. Can you still get Harp Lager ■■. Thank you to Dennis for starting
this thread, I agree with his comments, and most of those that followed. I try to put posts on “Old Timers”
thread, particularly when I have spotted something that interests me in the index, which I am trawling through
again at the moment, and not just only bothering about the few threads that I have started on here.
I’m back , so its one more mithering old sod trying to exercise his fading memory again . Not ready to turn me toes up yet , just been on holiday since 12th June up in chilly wet Scotland , but at least we missed the heatwave down here . Border guards were very lax in ■■■■■■■ , slipped by without trouble . Dave

You was “clocked” but down on the “list” as a “friendly” otherwise you’d have got a “tug” at J37 Dave ! Cheers Dennis.
Well said Mr. Bewick. I as a newish member are guilty as charged. Look in every night to see if anyone has posted anything about Dad’s old employers Burn Bros. Then read everything that is new on the day. I haven’t got anything like the experience of you more mature owner/drivers and relish reading your tales of days gone by, your arguments about certain hot topics (8 cylinder Big J’s for instance.) make me think that sometimes you might be just winding folks up, but when you read between the lines I see a lot of experience and considered comment. I will try to contribute a little more often in the future, but I will still look in to TNUK every night without fail. AS for being PC or un PC who gives a zb!!!
Well we’ve got 127 guests on the site at the moment so something is going badly wrong ! talk about "■■■■■■■ into the wind a’top 'O Shap Fell " Please yourselves ! Bewick.
Sorry to be an outsider watching the various threads but did not feel it was my right to join in.
As one involved in the truck industry for quite a long time but not on haulage I now put in my two-pennyworth and see if there is any interest in my musings.
I was part of the garage trade selling, repairing and recovering anything from 10 ton up. As a Preston, or more accurately Walton le Dale person (not Atki) I can go back a fair while.
Preston - A. Addison, Chris Miller, R Briggs, Bridges (Preston before and in Leyland), NITs, Gueest, Keaneys, Marsdens, Rayton. It goes on up to 1984 for me. Further afield, Cannons, Tommy and Bill, Roose Sand, NFT Kendal, Croppers, Pelter,Chippendale, Fleetwood Fish and for distance Gibbs of Fraserburgh or any of the Glasgow lot coming down the A6.
I have seen haulage operators good, bad and indifferent, the same as garages if truth be known. Some real cowboys out there.
If you wish I’ll continue or I’ll just remain a guest.
Peter Hardman.
Guilty as charged!! Like a few that’s said on here, ime a reader mostly till our Leatherhead pall
gets on,then I’m lost,■■ and never think of a ans, well not that’s printable.
But as I’m told ignore and it will go away?

Come on here Peter , reminiscences up to '84 would fit in nicely and you’d be welcome , Dave

As I write this, I am one of two members and 51 guests. Since it is 6-30am on a Saturday, I wonder how many of those looking in are from abroad?
Jim.
Me. I’m in New Zealand.
I have to admit I am doing a job for the last few months that is keeping me away from my computer and tend to spend my time just reading others posts and not have time to post.
I guess I also fit the description of a ‘lurker’, reason being that some threads, as said earlier, seem to be a bit of a closed shop. Although I was ‘up the road’ for nearly 50 years I have never knowingly met anyone on here. But as others have said ‘will try harder’ in future.
No one is under pressure to post everyday or every week, but the odd comment now and then is all
that people would like to see. You may know things about companies or certain trucks that you
drove that you can mention. If you decide to start a thread it will be supported and if you have
pictures even better !
Know one should feel under pressure to post ! Its just that it would be nice and hopefully intresting to
see some new blood on here !
Expect some friendly banter as that is partly also what the board is all about !
