Who's the king of the jungle

Well today saw the first signs of the French actually taking some action against those poor immigrants who have aggravated the poor British International hauliers and foreign ones too from getting on with there legitimate business, often penalised when stowaways got onboard there vehicles and being fined horrendous amounts of cash and having vehicles impounded to boot. Are they acting on there own in a stand alone policy or is there some undercover deal with Britain to procure this action.
So my question is why was something not done in the early stages of this problem and who is to blame, is it because we have now got brexit or maybe the French have elections next year looming. They think they are solving the problem but this is not necessarily the case as there is already another camp started near Dunkirk with up to 10,000 already reported and most of these persons in both camps being economical immigrants and not those fleeing a war torn country.
The ones being taken from the jungle are being processed and taken to all parts of France and then what I ask, they have one goal it seems to live in Britain and no where else will do. Brexit must have some influence here as if we ever do get the wheels in motion on that score we will be able to reject and eject those who we don’t want here.
At the end of the day we seem to be surviving in the world after getting the OUT vote but it all seems to be at a snails pace to me and I would like to see it all speed up, the sooner we are severed from that corrupt organisation the better and at 67yo I am wondering if I will actually see this exit come to fruition, Buzzer

It’s all about the money and always has been for these people who seek a better life. It has been going on for years in many European countries. Germany has the Turks. Italy has the Albanians. France has the North Africans. Spain has West Africans coming over at Tarifa. Holland has it’s problems with those from Pacific Islands. I can remember in the early 80s when there were thousands of young Irish boys on the road; looking for a better life in Holland, Greece, Isreal and all places in between. But when the Celtic Tiger roared and there economy picked up, most returned home. If there was something better for those in the Jungle, back home, then they wouldn’t have left. As someone who has lived and worked in foreign countries; I find it hard to fault anyone who wants to improve their standard of living by emigration. There but for the grace of God, go I.

Im guessing though that what ever you countries have lived and worked in, you never went there with the intention of leaching off the indigenous tax payer, demanding every hand out and free-bee available, milking the health service, not wanting to integrate and keeping to your own ghetto, abusing the local females, lying about your age to scam everything you can and all in all acting like a disgusting parasite disrespecting your host country, its traditions, religion, customs and practices and not showing one ounce of gratitude!!

Edit…unless you lived in Torreveija of course.

Yes indeed Chris - it was always for the money when we went to their countries and provided services or skills that they did not have.
I spent more than 30 years going from site to site as a welder or installation engineer. Drivers were the same - I have always said that nomatter where you go to the job is the same, then you go home. But these people want to settle and expect- nay - demand a life in our country with the previliges that all of us who have now retired have worked towards and paid into. Can anyone wonder that we are afraid that our now fragile NHS and DSS system is already under siege by somebody who wants to abuse the system. They MIGHT do the sort of work we will not do, but that does not give them the argument that they belong. We NEVER did in their countries, and we never will. They are escaping their places of birth because their country is backward and ours is an easy target. Simple - as we had to - they apply for an entry visa or work visa to enter the UK for a pre- concieved time - do their job - then go home, or stay according to their contribution satisfying the authorities. Anybody who breaks the rules gets the same treatment as we would have got in the poop-holes the are running from - no exceptions. Jim.
Rant over

Scrap the benefit system altogether end of problem, simples.

I think you need that ‘Oil of Ulay’ Buzzer - you know, the one that defies the seven signs of ageing…

Apparently the main sign is that you turn very right wing!

As someone who is looking at the problem from the other side of the world I have often thought what PDB has said here why keep using these ports that are clogged with so called refugees surely a few dollars/pounds extra fuel costs is better than running the risk of huge fines delays and worse damage to freight vehicles or even to drivers.

The remaining north sea and the western channel routes involve a lot more time lost in crossing and are more expensive. While even if operators did change routes on a wholesale basis the immigrants would probably just move to wherever they’ve got the best chance.Although I’d guess that plenty of private and commercial traffic has already made the change wherever possible which is probably one of the reasons why the local authorities in Calais are getting worried and decided to finally do something.
