Do we need a truckstop in Elgin ?
We need more places to park full stop imo. As for truckstops, never been a fan of them tbh.
Why Elgin in particular ? I presume you cant overnight in the car park behind the main street anymore, short walk to pubs. chippy and more pubs - mind you, that was 20 years ago
Yes the free lorry park is still there but obviously if there were somewhere nearby with full facilities it would certainly get used by many

Thats what I wanted to know, there does not seem to be anywhere drivers can get a shower and park up safely for the night !

If you are going to build a truckstop in the Northernmost parts, Elgin seems as good as anywhere, but will it be frequented enough to give someone a good business, you know how careful them skirt wearers are with their money

That was the point in posting on here wanted to see how much feedback there would be and get a rough idea on the actual need for one !

Is your user name Massey because you have a spare field and a trakta
Most of the nimby brigade would sooner have a brothel than a truckstop built in these parts.

remember “do we need a truckstop ?” and "would a truckstop be a viable business proposition ? " are two completely different questions
To be honest I’m surprised trucks are still allowed in the lorry park that’s there at the moment. For those that dont know ,the current lorry park is a town centre car park during the day with a few truck spaces available then at night it opens up for more trucks.
The last few times I’ve stopped there the mess left in the morning was ■■■■■ disgraceful , pish ,bottles of pish, carryout trays(some still half full), empty cans , plastic wrappers and even an nice neat pile of ■■■■■ complete with arse wipe paper.
Now I know this goes on elsewhere but this particular lorry park is right beside a community centre with family’s and young kid’s coming and going.

Scotland seem a little more tolerant to larry drarvers. In my beginnings we woz allowed to park on the “seafront” in Dumfries. When that closed they kept us a larry park open, even in Pumpherston and Elgin, Leith and Glesgay there are larry parks.
Unfortunately you mention it to an English council, they want 17 windmills and a gay meeting centre for Iraqi dissidents
