I can’t see any reason to leave it out if that’s his opinion. If you understand the concept then it obviously doesn’t apply to you, therefore you have no reason to take offence.
You’ve had your answer, Rik will draw your opinion to the attention of those who may (it’s unlikely, but they may) be able to influence these things, therefore there is nothing more he can do.
Thankyou for taking the time to share your opinion. Goodnight.
So in his opinion he can write what he likes…
One rule for 1 and other rules for others. Great Concept …
Why has my thread been moved to the feedback forum without asking (or telling) me. If I thought it was about feedback I would have put it there, but I thought it was in the appropriate place being of interest to other professional drivers - I realise there isn’t a special section for LGV trainers, but felt that was the correct place?
To flag it up for Rik’s attention so he can TRY and do something about it.
As for not telling you…We’re all still getting to grips with the new software, so I would hazard a guess that whoever moved it forgot to leave a shadow. Sorry! (Wasn’t me, just being embarrassed on their behalf, whoever it was! )
Rikki-UK:
As I said we have no control over the Google ads - I suggest you contact Google with your concerns
Well, don’t you think you should have?
After all, you make a great play about censoring members’ opinions when you think there may be unproven information contained in them.
BTW I haven’t read or even seen the advert because I don’t look at such things, but for all you, and Reed, know it and others may well contain actionable material.
I am sure that if it was actionable then either Google wouldn’t run it, or someone would sue Google, the ad is run in a placement, Google places the ads in there we dont, the forums get scanned by Google, they pick up on key words and put the ads in that match the keywords they find.
I have said I will raise this with people way above my pay grade and see what we can do, It is simply not within my power to stop certain adverts appearing via Google but give me a chance to see what i can do
It maybe nothing . but at least let me try
(i do think trying to achieve anything on a Sunday evening is probabaly a lost cause )
but trucknetuk allow google the space to advertise,so therefor you can remove the advert if you so wish…or as the members wish,as it is as trucknetuk say “for drivers by drivers”

ROG:
I believe this site has been trying to tell newbies and others the truth about the so called driver shortage for some time so why is there a link to pathway who say on their site -
Why is now the best time to start your new career?
Its hard to believe but there are currently far more jobs than drivers. Employers are literally crying out for HGV drivers. Take a look at these industry facts!
There are currently well over 80,000 well paid vacancies for qualified HGV drivers in the UK alone.
60% of all road haulage companies are struggling to fill vacancies.
The top 100 biggest companies are suffering even more with 72% having a severe shortage of drivers.
The shortage is so severe that industry authorities now agree that it could lead to problems in the supply of vital goods and services across the country. UK businesses stand to lose up to £1 billion.
Experts agree that the severe shortage is here to stay and will continue to worsen in the near future.
To me, this is a double standard and confusing to those visiting this site.
The site allows ads like this which it seems to condone by allowing them and then tells them that is is actually different - talk about confusing signals
Please could a mod move this to the feedback forum
rog if you have a prob with this advert and i do agree with you but why not tell the people that can do some thing about it like trading standers

There could be a problem with complaining about the advert being on this site as the one ROG is quoting from is not on this site and never has been as far as I’m aware

I have searched the google site and all they suggest is that a person contacts trading standards - they do not appear to have any way to contact them about an advert from the link given above.
If anyone has a link to their complaints department, please let me have it.

Adverts from certain advertisers can easily be blocked by the person who is in charge of the Google AdSense account. Just a few clicks and typing in the name of those you don’t want to see advertised on your site.

The thing about google ad’s is you the site owner put keys words into it,like say trucks lorry and the such, google spiders other sites using these words then posts them on the advert, the site owner then gets paid for the amount of “clicks” this produces, they rarely pay a great deal of money but the “up” of the advert is your site is on alot of other sites too, double bubble…Looking at the add i would say trucknet’s keyword is “truck”,to be honest “free ■■■■” would get more clicks…
26 years an Lgv Trainer: I agree with Mart on this one.
Also does this site need al these avert’s ?
Also what does trucknet do with our mail adress is it sold on for revinue.
While it may be difficult for some to comprehend, TruckNet UK is owned by Reed Business Information Ltd, an on-line and printed media company- A business that exists to make a profit and pay its employees a wage, In order to make profit they sell advertising on this website as well as the few 100 others it owns and in its magazines.
The Google ads are not controlled by RBI and we have no influence over what ads it shows.
And finally we do not sell your e-mail address to anyone, in fact so far we havent even passed the e-mail addresses from here to RBI itself and they remain locked in the forum database. We may at some point offer the members here the opportunity to “OPT IN” to recieve mails or newsletters.
Now you are on a warning. You run the site and you post remarks like that ?
Try to abide by the rules you state…instead of making remarks like this
While it may be difficult for some to comprehend
Agreed 100%
As for the Ads, I don’t see them I use AdBlock plus
I do think that Ads on here need to be ‘vetted’ in some way by the Admin team BEFORE they go live. Some ‘desperate’ Members might fall for some of the BS on the right, when you are really desperate you are willing to believe anything, I know from experience.
