Some good old English names appearing in the Operations Team JJ
indeed, will hold my tongue what I think of them… by the way 240, no connection with whittle movers afaik
Thanks JJ, I didn’t expect there would be. I was an interested observer of Whittle International from the Bowker side of the fence. Observing their (his) antics on a daily basis for their last 5 months was mildly amusing.

Why put pics of a company that ripped off many ODs put them in the bog and flush em

Come on Roger, when did they ever short change you ? I did a year with them and my cash was always there for me. At the end of each trip you would sit down with your Manager, mine was at first Andrew Jones and then Shiela Bennett . They would go through all your expences with you and when you both agreed on the balance, you got a cheque there and then. At least that`s how it was then 1976/7. Mr.Micheal Whittle, in his morning coat and pin stripe trousers, (flash prat) would always look in and thank you.
…
Think folk are mixing there Whittles up. Michael Whittle was in Abbey village near Bolton. He always paid up no problem.
He did like to look smart.
But AFAIK he did not have any trucks or trailers, well not up to 1981 anyway.

Hullo hib,
Yes , you are quite right in tour assumptions, Mr. Michael Whittle did’nt have any General Haulage trucks of his own. We were all either O/D’s or there were a few smallcompanies with a few truck also, that ran under his banner. He did have an Interest in tghe Household Removal Business though.
Cheers, Archie.
