Whispaire microwave

anybody got one? they seem better made than the usual roadmate stuff and cheaper

Never heard of them till now, Was just checking them out HERE

Doesn’t mention how difficult to “plumb” in though. Lighter/power sockets arn’t usually up to the task AFAIK so usually have to be hard wired to the batteries (using the correct loom of course)

But just found This one from the USA which definately plugs into the lighter socket looks a lot more practical for the truck if you ask me, Although availability looks to be an issue.

that wavebox looks pretty handy wonder how much they are in uk as been wanting a microwave just dont wana pay alot for one. cant seem to see them any where with a price in uk but amercian ebay has them for 199 dollars which when converted is 99 pound dunno how much postage would be.

Been doing some similar searching on the Wavebox and agree with the “around $200.00 figure”
But slightly dissapointing reviews from some of the gadget web sites main grumble uneven cooking some parts scorched some parts still uncooked :frowning: and over 3 x as long cooking times as conventional ovens (no surprise there really :unamused: )

Anybody got any experience of the RoadPro or Whispaire microwaves??

the wavebox dont seem all that bad considering most of bad reviews have came from the use of the 12v. lucky for truckers theres the 24v adaptor that does the better job of half the time and giving the 660w not all bad. i’d have one i sent a message to lad on ebay on shipping costs to uk so hopefully will do my own review if he is will to post.
if i had my own truck id happily pay more for the better microwave but i change trucks alot so this is alot more handier. :bulb:

Keep us informed then st3 as im also interested in one (but cant afford one yet :frowning: )
Good point about the 12v reviews too never thought about that.

done a bit more digging and whispaire supply most of the fire and rescue services in this country with their microwaves and waterheaters and such in the mobile incident support trucks, so they must be a reliable product and 50 quid cheaper than most similar items, i will get the electrician who is wiring up my latest set of spotlights to wire it in for me

alright for some with decent pay and anice truck to put it in lol

had a reply of bloke said willing to ship to uk at a total of 300 dollars (£150) which aint bad and ideal for any one who swaps trucks alot like me

so what power rating does the light plug need to be ? I always thought microwaves were high power and needed to be directly wired into the battery ?

Just going to ask about 12/24v inverters.

I have seen them growing in power output lately from 150w to 300w, now I see them between 900w and 1200w.

When I lived at my grannies she had a 1 bar electric fire that was a kilowatt 1000w. We were not allowed to use that unless it was minus 27c and the snow was 17’ deep because of the amount of powere it used.

How safe are these when wired directly into a truck, and will they start the next morning?

one of the truck in yard where i work has a samsung microwave and coffee maker in it, but it was fitted by scania so perfectly safe. just wouldnt like to use them with out engine running incase flattens the battery

i just go a reply from company who makes the wavebox. Good news it will be availible in uk in february but price hasnt been said yet.

this is the link for company that will be selling them that they sent me

I’m sure I saw the Wavebox on The Gadget Show (Channel 5) and they thought it was poor. I’m sorry I can’t remember exactly what they said.

Add on Vat @17.5% and handling charges from either parcelforce or the couriers, and your looking at least another £50 on top of the initial US purchase price.
As goods over £18 (gifts £36) are subject to Vat if imported from outside the EU

They didn’t say it was poor, in fact it performed very well, it’s just that the dozen or so nerds that had to vote on it voted for some other gadget. The cost was something like £99.99.

now up for sale on caravan and leisure tecnology website only 12 volt, £149.00p

finally back in stock. Ordered wavebox on monday stated 48hr delivery still waiting for it was hoping be intime to start my shifts later :frowning:
£149.99 plus £9.99 postage. will give my opinion on it when finaly get it :sunglasses:

This looks a really nice gadget and very handy to have, not that i do nights out anymore, not that i want to anyway, but dont forget bthe fridge to go with it…

Word of warning…as with any high powered gadget in a truck, you do need to charge the batteries…so when parked for long periods, and running the kettle, microwave, it will work more efficiently if the engine is running at the same time, so before getting up, start the big lump, turn on the gadgets, and have a lie in whilst theyre boiling/cooking…

my xf has fridge built in already  could always use fridge i pull lol
