Which tomtom is required for EU truck navcore and map?

Hello,

I have a very old tomtom XL from 2008 which has no sd card slot and not very much storage/memory.

I am wanting to put the truck navcore and maps on it but I understand the memory and storage is insufficient.

Therefore I am willing to purchase a new tomtom but just wondered which model is required/sufficient for use with truck navcore and maps?

My budget is no more than £150 and I would prefer 5" screen.

Thanks

Thought downunder was helping you on navitotal. You need a go 520 530 720. Yep all older units but only ones you can update They are the best and down under is the best to help you

Apologies if I’m showing my total technical illiteracy, but that ^^^^^^ means nothing to me.

It appears on the navitotal forum a member called downunder was giving the person assistance with this topic, or so Getz thought it was the case.
It also appears that the OP is being directed to acquire either a tomtom GO 520, GO 530, or a GO 720 as these can be updated with newer maps acquired from 3rd party sources

Ah I see.

I think!

crystal clear to me,
the op has asked same question on navitotal and got a reply from a mod telling him where to look for info on how to do it etc.
the go 520 etc are the best for putting truck map on sd card free.
sorry if i wasnt as clear as i should have been.
thanks peirre

Apologies Gezt, but in my defence it was the Internet version of only hearing one half of a conversation.

no worries mate, no offence taken at all.

Hi guys thanks for all the replies.

Yes I did ask the same question on navi total as well and got some very useful info

I’ve asked there but I’ll also ask here too… I have the opportunity to buy a tomtom go 950 live for £120. Shall I go for it?

Thanks!

Well it wasn’t one of the models mentioned previously, so why not ignore the advice you were given by the experts and just do what you want :open_mouth:

950 live may work with truck maps, think the live bit won’t work with patched map. Try and keep it basic so no live no map updates for life, just go for one with UK and Ireland.
Don’t pay for what you won’t or can’t use.

Thanks for the replies

I now have the chance to buy a TT Go 520 for (£45 buy it now or best offer) OR TT Go 550 for £54.99 (buy it now with best offer) Which is the better buy?

i use the 520, always found it reliable but there is not much difference in all the go range. your choice.

The 550 is one of the later, “Live” TomToms. Much more difficult (maybe even impossible) to get the Truck navcore and maps onto it, if that’s what you want to do with it.
