Hoy

Spot-on Graham, but Raymundo got that part first, so I reckon you and Raymundo got it between you.

The correct answers are:

1.) Dunnet Head

2.) Pentland Firth

3.) Hoy

How ironic that it the right answer should be the most northerly point on mainland Scotland and my guess was the most southerly point.[emoji15] [emoji3] [emoji3]

Pentland Firth ! bloody horrible stretch of water. Very nearly lost a ship going through there and got the tides wrong so we still had a ten knot East going stream and met a South Easterly gale when getting near to Duncansby head. The sea being kicked up was horrendous and not nice at all !!

I was trying to get you go a bit further North.

I very nearly wrote that you’d probably already been there, but that might have helped too much!! :stuck_out_tongue: :grimacing:

Pat made a big help there :grimacing:

I would still be poring over my west coast of Scotland maps if it wan’t also for Pat, like this one of the north coast:-

I think Pat should be given credit for saying Hoy first, so I came no where in this quiz. but will try harder next time

I’ve had another look through the posts and I’m in agreement with you raymundo, so I’ve re-edited the title to suit.

Pat Hasler:
Thurso, straights of Shetland, Hoy.

Nearly Pat, you’ve got 1/3 now.

The piece of land is indeed Hoy.

I’m not as far South as Thurso. :grimacing:

I am speechless LOL.
I went to a google earth, slowly went round the outline of the entire British mainland until I figured out a possible location LOL

Pat I did something similar with the border rivers for that bridge one you posted, never found it but did find some lovely old buildings and great scenery , really enjoyed looking, thanks.

For me it was relatively small compared to covering the entire USA
