I’ve been using a TomTom Go710 and a Sony NVU53 to date and not had many problems. I’m now looking to buy a Sat Nav I can use in my car, and when driving HGV’s. Any recommendations please?

Yes, the TomTom Go710. Put the trucking Maps on it (I’m sure you can put a sd card in it, yes?) and Bobs your Auntie.
If you want an easy to use plug’n’go truck satnav, i would go for a tomtom truck 7100 around 320 on amazon.
If you up to a bit of diy, go for a tomtom 740 off ebay and a 4gb sd card and download the truck maps for it, you will find all the details in the computer section here viewforum.php?f=8
and i wouldn’t recommend the firm mentioned above to anybody
Something I do regular, build sat-navs for drivers.
Best value for money? Buy a no-make 7" sat nav off ebay, around £50-60 with at least 128mb ram, WinCE 6 based and either 4gb internal storage or a slot for an 8gb SD card.
Then, download the Igo Primo 2.0 software from the internet (PM me if you want to know where from), add the truck route files and the job’s a good’un.
Brand new, bang up to date truck sat-nav for £60.
I can put new TomTom truck maps onto older sat-navs with low ram (32mb) and make them run properly, but it’s a chew on.
Hi Cieranc are you able to sort a xl iq tomtom v2 without sim slot thanks in advance.
Can that be done on a garman nuvi
Mucksavaga, Theres 2 types with the same name. somewhere in the menu there’s an option to see how much memory is available. Go through the extended memory if you cant see it. Usually under ‘Version’. Have a look and see what’s there. For TT Truck maps you’ll need at least 2gb ROM and 64mb ram. You can load truck maps onto a 32mb ram unit but it’ll never run right, will keep crashing.
Don’t think there’ll be enough internal memory (hence needing a memory card) but check and post back.

It’s not that bad.
