Had he stepped back in time to 1974 or what? 
A certain bar in Zeebrugge was a favourite haunt for these guys, putting propositions to drivers to ‘add to their load’,.and it was a sight more than a £100 they offered…and that was over 15 years ago.
Can I just say the one and only time I was approached when sat with a group of other drivers in that bar, they got a very polite but very resounding ‘‘NO thanks’’…from all of us.
I heard rumours maybe even b/s, that guys who were daft enough to agree to do it ‘Just this once and once only’ were later next time shown pictures of their kids going to school the second time they were asked, after they refused…with a '‘We know where you live’ threat.

I was once paid 200 quid to bring some office furniture down an access ramp because the vehicle was too tall to get down the slop to the underground loading area. So i doubt he was offered 100. he was probably offered a darn site more just hadnt got it yet

Its actually a pretty good tactic by the smugglers. Offer “only” £100 and the driver would think “Nah, can’t be drugs, they only offered £100!! Its probably something else, they just CBA doing the paperwork etc for it…”.
And it saves about £900 too.
