Mountains aren’t so bad out here as the Alpine routes.
HRSDC is basically a fast track way of doing it. You come out on a 1 year work permit and have to join the PNP within that year. Not sure what happened to Allikat, but generally you have few problems getting your permanant residency after the first 6 months have passed.
HRSDC gets you on the ground which should give you an advantage.
Sorry, can’t help with your queries, but one bit of advice I can give is don’t try to give our Allikat a ■■■ change
You must realise there are - as far as immigration is concerned - TWO levels of government in Canada.
HRSDC is the name of the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT department that identifies the skills requirements of different regions and provinces of Canada.
PNP is a program where a PROVINCIAL Government identifies a employment class that can not be readily filled within the province.
Then there is CIC - Citizenship and Immigration Canada - That is the FEDERAL department that actually approves the immigration.
ALLIKAT did not have the skills that Manitoba was seeking…tractor trailer driver and tried to sneek in the back door. She was deported at Canadian taxpayer expense and returned to England.
Truck drivers are not considered to be skilled by the HRSDC and must apply through the PNP to get permission to work in Canada.
See this link:
cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/provnom/index.html
This gives the official description of what is entailed.
The thing with HRSDC is that you must get onto the PNP as soon as six months have passed at work. Once you are on the PNP the application for PR has to be sent to Buffalo.
Once you get your PR then you are free to remain in the country but in order to get the PR you need to fulfill the requirements.
Truck Drivers are now rated as O on the skills test. There is talk of this class being included in the upper flight, and the PR system is being changed in September, or it may be the PNP. Not sure now.
Either way, companies are sending recruiters to Europe all the time. They wouldn’t do this if they were able to source drivers here.
