Can of worms, what if you are able to move and let ambulance through and it has accident with another vehicle
Not the responsibility of the driver that moved - that decision to ‘proceed’ is soley that of the B&T driver

I have been told by a police officer to go through a red light before. It was in Stafford town centre, and i think there was a major incident going on. Police car drove all the way up the pavement, to jump to front of the queue, who then directed us all to get out of the way, by driving through the red light.
So its seems that if directed to proceed through by an officer of the law, your pretty much ok.
Thats what I mean Rog,you move he thinks it is clear because you move to let him through, we have to rely on everyone doing their bit and being safe
I would go 50/50, phone a friend or ask the public and if I couldn’t get a straight answer, leave the truck, do a ‘runner’ and phone the law & tell 'em the truck had been stolen.
ROG:
Why do you think that the civilian advanced driving organisations only have police traffic drivers as examiners -
I always thought it was because they’re wannabe cops who like kissing arse

Any civvy advanced driver who thinks that is not one - wrong attitude
Nice answer Kenny1975. Too many Alf Garnets believing what they read in the Sun.
Stay where you are lights they will change in a few seconds, a few years ago I wrote to the DSA, Devon and Cornwall police and the fire service asking about blues and two’s and priority lanes in Exeter. Some of you may know Exeter was one of the first towns to get priority or polluation lanes designed to get the biggest polluaters out of the city the quickest to clean up our air quality. I asked the question when I am teaching a learner car driver, I am stuck in heavy traffic on Topsham Road Exeter with an empty Bus / lorry lane to the left of us when we hear the blues and two’s but can not see them approaching, what do I teach my student to do?. Now if its an ambulance or a fire engine it will drive in the empty bus / lorry lane and past 100 vehicles on the left side, if its a police car it will pass on the right forcing a 100 cars to enter the Bus /Lorry lane. The Police responce was they follow the rules in the highway code. I say if they are all singing from different hymm sheets stay where you are at lights they are trained to avoid you.
Several years ago in Barnstaple a fireman was banned from driving for an accident when on blues and two’s for running a red traffic light and hitting a car, only a minor accident.
If it would be safe to do so (no traffic, or the people who have green light would flash me to do it) I would go, then stop and take picture of the ambulance to prove it it’s necessary…
But even if not - after all, if it can save someone’s live, I am ready to pay a ticket to do so.
