What route from Calais to the East side of Spain

On a ex-pat site i frequent this often a question that is asked & of course a number of different answers are always proclaimed as being the best for this reason or that. The west route through France taking in the Milieu (sic) bridge seems to be the front runner at present.

I guess that some of you often run to the Costa’s and would be interested to know just what route you take and the reasons why.

I go Calais, Troyes, Lyon, La Jonquera-Barcelona…Will get the right answer soon!

Calais-Reims-Lyon-BCN

We tend to go Rouen - Chartres - Orleans, down over the Millau viaduct and cross the Spanish/French border at La Jonquera

I don’t know about the toll costs for trucks, but certainly in a van this route is the cheapest for tolls and a bit quicker in terms of time as well (in our opinion - no doubt someone will come a long with a faster/cheaper route!)

My phone said Arras , Paris, Orleans, Clemont Ferrand but in reality you would want to get near Paris unless It’s the dead of night. Drove to Estartit 5 yrs ago and went through Paris because it wad the dead of night but didn’t come back that way.

Calais
Skirt Paris taking the Euro disney signs Charles De G Airport.
Then Melun
Nevers
Clermont Ferrand
Narbonne
Perpignan
Le Jonc
Spain

Same here

MODS,please can you put this in the correct forum, the euro one.

I was always going via Rouen/Chartres/Evreux,then either via Clermont Ferrond or Millau, depending on the weight,as that area is volcano country and steep hills in places. From Toulouse,i would ignore the 7.5 ton weight limit signs, and take the free national road all the way to La Jonquera, but before the border, you have no choice then to use the toll road.Carcassone is a truck ban,but has a dual carriegeway for any vehicle to by pass the medieval tourist town with the big castle.I have not been stopped on the weight limits in France.

Thanks for the input lads as it seems things have changed since we all took the Macon route and stopped for a â– â– â– â– â– â–  in the bakehouse.

DONT stop in La Jonquera,it is a hole,if you need to fuel up there, watch the cab and get out of dodge, and park elsewhere,zONA Franca is no better, cab break ins. :bulb:

London to gatwick or heathrow… Viva espana… job done…
