What is the difference bus and coach driver?

90% or more bus companies that will teach you driving will only get you the auto ticket.

I learnt on a double decker with a crash box (before I got a proper licence, HGV1  ), surely you would be a bit limited job wise with an ā€˜automatic only’ licence? but I suppose thats the whole point?

Yes, that’s the point. Most major bus fleets are completely auto nowadays, so there’d be no incentive for the company to train you on a manual just for the sake of it (higher chance of failing, possibility of having the driver poached by another company).

In answer to the OP, I’ve heard that there’s a convention that auto-only licenses are referred to as ā€œbusā€ licenses, whereas manual licenses are referred to as ā€œcoachā€ licenses.

Come on all of you, stop bickering!

We all know that coach drivers have bigger comb-overs

Tiger.

isn’t it the same as asking the differance between an artic and rigid driver. We both drive trucks but that’s where the similarity ends!

But they have different licenses and thus a artic driver can drive a rigid but not the other way around. Rigid drivers also get paid less than artic drivers don’t they?

I was out in a coach all day ,was given tea and shortbread in the morning then given lunch at the next stop after finishing given £20. sod it back on the bus tomorrow.guess thats the difference.
