Houses need built. Cant remember the last time i seen 20 joiners in 1 room or 20 sparkys pulling cables. Well not private builds. Council mob usually come in vans on min 4 people.

What about garages ? My car is due a service soon and as I’m a key worker it needs to be able to get me to my place of work and back reliably.

Washing machine breaks down? Snotty clothes need cleaning, and not in a crowded laundromat.
Cooker?
Freezer full of bog rolls?
.
What is necessary to keep going is not simple.

There’ll always be the selfish ones. Surely some can use their noggin rather than having every tiny detail.

It’s look like everyone deems themselves to be “essential” judging by the same amount of traffic I can see from my vantage point. The woman next door works for an estate agent and she’s just left home as normal in her uniform and the woman on the other side runs a coffee bar in town and she’s also just left for work as normal. Very very few people are taking this seriously and think it doesn’t apply to them/affect them and are carrying on regardless. No sign of the fuzz anywhere. I predict the army being deployed in the near future to enforce it.

Ford main dealer where my lad works shuts today for 3 weeks, not sure if it’s just his local branch or all Ford agents.

Possibly but garages (and I interpret that as people with spanners fixing/servicing vehicles) are on the ok to open list.

DIY shops… if a pipe burst or whatever then bits are needed to fix it. Could do with them being limited to emergency only but they wont be because they’ll be rammed at the weekend with people buying bbq’s and the like :unamused:

Garages will not at present be required to close and for the moment MOT for light vehicles will continue (except NI AFAIK). My guess is that dealership has decided that it wants to claim the 80% for sending its workers home rather than have to pay its employees to be at work but not fully productive while having to pay them 100%.

It seems that vets and pet shops will probably remain open - the supermarkets sell cat and dog food but do not cater for other animal species requirements.

I believe the Pulse & Cocktails shops on the A1 are also seen as essential and will be remaining open.
Have it on good authority (friend of a friend’s cousin twice removed) they will be stocking even more essential items for truckers.

CDC’s closing so hurry to get your bling.

Sports Direct refused to shut claiming “[we’re] uniquely well placed to help keep the UK as fit and healthy as possible” :unamused:

Now after widespread criticism they’ve done a u-turn and closed.

Typical of that fat greedy ■■■■ Ashley, the zero hours king. :imp:
Thinks nothing of his workforce, profit before employee’s health and welfare.

You will no doubt have heard Sports Direct have been told to close, B&Q however are closing for one day so they can reorganise stock and get “essential items” on shelves at the front of the store, and put measures in place to ensure the public adhere to the distancing rules. But considering that they have been ramming the stores last week full of spring lines (lawnmowers, gardening etc) I suspect that they are taking the pee

If you take those peas now, and plant them, you’ll have some more to fill your freezer soon.
Buy a shovel to bury dead relatives in the garden, to avoid needing artificial fertilizers.

That’s exactly what I thought yesterday when I heard they were staying open.

Just tipped at Donni

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Tipped 2 building sites Bristol this morning, both major housebuilders - both sites closing at the end of today

Considering that the country is s’posed to be on lockdown the amount of vehicle traffic on the motorway network this morning is high, on the way back up I saw several caravans and campers on the M5.
But I somehow don’t think a 105 pallet backhaul of paint rollers from droitwich is an essential load. But it’s happening along with 5 other trucks from various firms we’re waiting while the factory finishes lunch before they load us.
The spandex clad cyclists are out in droves and causing mayhem. An XPO driver had a minor ding dong with a cyclist as we came down the hill toward the air ballon roundabout cause the truck kicked up a little dust.
