We lost one of your big competitors store work which means no more cushy mon-fri, so i have a choice of
dayshift or nightshift with these shift patterns:
double weekend
sun-thurs
tues-sat
Dont know what to do but i need to volunteer for one of them or they will most likely 90 day me onto the worst one. What would you choose? Im kinda favouring sun-thur because you still get the best bit of the weekend.
I ve done the tues-sat shift pattern and found it ok.Think i d be tempted by the sun-thurs on night that way you still got fri and sat night for partying.

Tuesday-Saturday day shift, perfect.
Blootered every second Saturday with Sunday-Monday in my scratcher and an OT shift every second Monday.
Tues - Sat without a doubt - especially if you’re salaried.

It wont be this, my company never plans in 12+ shift they can lead to 15 but never planned for it.
Im quite surprised everyone seems to favour the Tuesday-Saturday. Ive done monday-friday all my life with every job ive ever done so i haven’t a clue really. 
my day off in the midlle of week.i am single man ,i not lost nothing.
The way to look at it (now I’ve had some sleep!) is working 3 days a week for a full week of 45 hours means you get 4 days a week off instead of two for the same or perhaps even better money.
My family get to see me every day, and I’ve only done about 3 nights out in the last 20 years. 
Double weekend might mean working Sat & Sun as part of shift pattern.
Worked at Wincantons on a Wed - Sun (Nights) shift, off Mon-Tues. That was on chilled food from 97-2002. You could only switch to Sun-Thurs or Tues-Sat if another driver left the company and nobody with longer service wanted that shift.
Must say they did pay premium rates for all weekend work e.g. time & half all hours Sat and double all hours Sun.
When at DHL they only paid basic rate for your dedicated five day Sun-Thur, Mon-Fri, Tues-Sat, would pay overtime for sixth shift, which could be on a Friday if working Sun-Thur.
I have always been a mon to fri man. with sats as overtime if i wanted it
But i now do 4 on 4 off and i love it
Double weekend is a £4820 bump in wages
Single weekend is a £1643 bump in wages
4on 4off is a £792 decrease in wages
Can’t get £4820 out my mind someone talk me out it.

I’m tempted mate. I wasn’t even considering it until they showed us the increase. You can choose your rest days to suit yourself i was thinking thurs/fri and our weekend work is a piece of ■■■■ just 2 shuttles up to the factory per day.
See right now i work every other saturday doing red circles saving for a mortgage this would mean i wouldn’t need to that anymore, but it worries me in case i have a family one day and im stuck on it

Sunday to Thursday nights all the way.
It’s like Monday to Friday days… but you start very early on a Monday; like Sunday night kind of early. But then you also get to finish very early on a Friday.
It works for me.
been on sunday to thursday with friday as o/t if I want it for 3 years now and it was the best move ive ever made.
no silly oclock start on day 1, I get to see the kids out of school every friday and I dont have to take a day off for things like appointments as i arrange them for fridays.
