HIAB?, Moffett?
Got my CPC next week and my C practical test in 6 weeks. Looking at jobs, almost all class 2 are HIAB, or Moffett and Class 1 are tanker.
Was I stupid to get just plain DCPC instead of HIAB etc. which gives credit to CPC? Or should I leave all the extras til much later?
Thanks again.
An ADR doesn’t make you a tanker driver, a Hiab certificate doesn’t make you a crane driver.
Are there any openings for Hiab, Moffett, drivers in your area?
I would leave the extras for now. Concentrate on getting your licence first, then find some work to get some experience. It is hard enough to learn one new skill, don’t make it any harder by having to learn two. There will be plenty of work out there just doing standard class 2 work. Pallet work, parcel hubs, general haulage etc, especially as we get closer to Christmas

As a former Hiab driver I can tell you for certain the the ticket on it’s own without experience is not going to help you. Not least of all because some places have a very poor Hiab trainig course (if you did go down the Hiab route at some point, ALLMI is the one people tend to ask for)
And, Hiab wouldn’t get you 35 hours of periodic DCPC, 14 hours at best, and it wouldn’t count for anything if you need Initial CPC instead of periodic.

Looking on the Avail app, of 27 jobs every single one is either C2 Hiab for £14.99 or C1 tanker for £19.88
I already have C1 but I’m sure it’s not the one they mean.

Great, thanks…makes sense.
Periodic is what I’m doing.
Try looking on Indeed, there are plenty of class 2 jobs that don’t require anything extra using the postcode in the picture you posted. Avail only work with a select group of clients so choice of work with them tends to be more limited and specialised

Yeah, think that’s just a typo, like the £149 an hour tanker job that was on here yesterday.

Have a careful read into Avail, they seem to be slightly misleading in their publicity, something about 30%
