What else to run with livestock trailer

hi there

thinking of buying a unit and livestock trailer to mostly move our own stock,
Was wondering what else people would run to get some use out of the unit and to help pay for itself hopefully.
Already got op licence due to running 7.5s.

where in north wales close to the border and don’t mind running far.

Thanks

well the obvious answer is move other people’s livestock!

they’re a bit few and far between, but what about a blower to collect your own feed? depending on how much cheaper you’ll get it to wether it’s worth it and if an artic can access all / most of your bins. but you’ll then have 2 trailers you can use yourself and for others. if you’re arable as well, you can use it to shift your grain about

depending on your slurry situation you might be able to utilise a tanker

flats cost nowt and will always come in handy

never thought of a blower,
just trying to thing of a few ideas to keep me busy 3/4 days a week.
a blower or low loader maybe.
there is a lot of quarrys around but don’t fancy wreaking tackle in them.

As you’ve got farm experience, you could try hay & straw and fertiliser (or anything else farmers buy )

depending on the amount of livestock have you thought about W+D .
Drop livestock body that way you have a flat bed and in doing so you would then do the same for the drag. you then have the option of getting a lift on off body for anything else you do not to mention the flat bed trailer can be used behind a tractor.

have looked at doing adr to carry fert, I think for the price of a flat it would be silly not to have one if you have a unit knocking around.
im just looking at options away from farming to spread out abit.
Is there much demand for carrying pallets for palletline ect or is that job sewn up by the big fleets?

Never thought of a wagon and drag for some reason!
Wouldnt be a bad idea really my old fella only got class2 anyway.
Would a w+d get as much other work as artics?

me personally i’d only be buying a trailer if it would be of use to me, unless you were very lucky and dropped on something lucrative.

building up the livestock work and doing a bit of your own decent paying flat work for the local farmers etc and if there’s any firms local to sub for on traction for odd days would be what i’d be doing rather than in the mix with everyone else earning a wage with a curtainsider

do you want to be a farmer that runs a truck for the farm or set up as a haulier aswell?

Why not speak to other farmers and see what there requirements are.

I work for a farmer and has 1 livestock trailer but apart from his own stock don’t seem to be used for much else.

Always get small step frame for collections from farmers auctions of plant and all other knackered stuff you all buy lol
