the cyclist seems to me like an evenly balanced chap, with a chip on each shoulder…he is the epitome of the cyclists that you just want to drive over every day they are near you.all the other videos of him just scream out,…,im a complete tool in every aspect of my self important road commander cyclists life…I just love how cyclists have the ( im a legitimate road user logic),usually its the zoomers with the spandex and baby oil allure about them,((wind resistance my clackerbags) they like the allure of the slinky gear…gay or what??..,that’s the same logic as steam gives way to sail at sea…but try telling that to the Belfast ferry when its regatta day in the loch.on the horn and, move over, coming through,.) id love to see the previous 5 mins of tape when he no doubt does his rolling roadblock as its a single carriageway.and arnt the ones overtaking him crossing over the chevrons and also commiting offences? please do correct me if im wrong…why is it they need to balance all over the place at the traffic lights, letting us see just how far up their arse their kegs are? why cant they just put a foot down? irrespective of the legalities of cycle lanes ( who cares anyway),then if there is one and they arnt in it,then they should be treated with the contempt they
deserve…he didn’t get his elbow clipped for nothing as no doubt the previous few mins of tape would show…

That cyclist clearly states on that CRC site that he hopes that trucker doesn’t end up losing his job, even after that trucker almost ended that cyclists life.
Yeah! Your right, defo a cyclist with a chip on his shoulder. :unamused:

You’re just jealous because you’d look like a sack of ■■■■ tied in the middle if you wore lycra, and you know it.

He could easily have killed the guy, he deserves to loose his licence.

Ironically most truckers purchase XXXL t-shirts! especially the tipper boys, which when worn often could be mistaken for Lycra

Our local highways department installed a cycle path beside a main road but cyclists choose to use the main carriageway. Why?

A question I have raised on this forum before.

Anyway, Chester will be along shortly with his views and comments, no doubt.

Already done that on page 1.
Which will also answer your question you raise on page 2
This post will be on page 3

So my advice to you would be start at page 1

I did, on the other merged thread.

Thankyou.

I haven’t looked at the vid because I see too much of this rage stuff every working day.

There is no room for idiots on the road whatever they use to get around in or on and from what folks are saying, the truck driver needs to be taken to task for what he has done by his employer and possibly by the law.

If cycleways are so badly designed and maintained, why don’t cyclists demand for them to be improved - they could petition the local council to get something done because people of all ages should use them - I’m thinking of schoolchildren etc.

Had a happy circumstance a couple of days ago - on a long busy single carriageway road, I was following a cyclist at a discreet distance as normal when he looked around, saw me and pulled into the next layby to let me and my followers by - I gave him a wave of thanks.

As I’m more understanding of the problems with cycleways and their shortcomings in some areas, can I move on to my next cycle moan…get your frigging earphones of your heads

:

That’s what cycle paths are designed for! Doris and her bread basket get a crusty loaf and a tin of soup, or the stay at home middle class mum to take her children to school under pedal power so she can do her bit for the environment.
Do you really think town planners want fit guys doing 25-30mph on a 4ft cycle path with them lot.

For cyclists who want to ride at speed (20-30mph) they is a good design network for them to use to get to their destinations quickly , you may know it as a road.

Absolutely spot on. A shared use cycle path, designed for people pottering about with their kids, or tootling to the shops with a basket on the front of their bike, is no place for an eight stone racing whippet on two grand’s worth of carbon fibre hammering along at 30mph. The thing non - cyclists often forget is just how fast a bike is capable of going when pedalled by someone who is reasonably fit and in a hurry.

The ironic thing is, when lycra is stretched beyond its natural fibre state , it becomes see through :open_mouth: .
That my dear , is strongly not a good look, nor is it fashionable. :frowning::grimacing:

Totally disagree - blue circled signs mean COMPULSORY so he has to use it and at that time he has no right to be there .
It is not a pavement but also a cycle path. Shared with pedestrians. Same sort like a bus lane.
Tax payer money wasted !

No, that’s cobblers. “Signs with blue circles but no red border mostly give positive instruction.”, it says on the internet, at direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg … 070644.pdf if you’re interested. A circular sign with a red border would be giving an order to use the cycle path, but that wouldn’t happen in this country since cycle paths are not compulsory. I quite agree that it’s tax payer’s money wasted, but the only reason for that is the farcical nature of the cycle facilities in the first place.
Anyway, no matter how compulsory it would be to use the path, nothing excuses a supposedly professional driver in charge of a large vehicle driving like that. Bicycles are a vehicle and have a right to be on the roads, and more than a few drivers seem to need reminding of this from time to time.

Have a look in the internet again:

The signing system
Circles
give orders

Triangles
warn

Rectangles
inform

Blue circles generally give a mandatory instruction
,
such as “turn left”, or indicate a route available only to
particular classes of traffic, e.g. buses and cycles only In that video - Pedestrians/ Cyles

I am not advocating that driver, I edited it just after posting to make it clear.

OH MY GOD.

waynedl:
I thought your initial post was a typo, but you truly are an idiot.

Thanks you Muppet. Is that all that your parents thought you ?

waynedl:
Can a bus ONLY drive in bus lanes then?

No but In many cases using a cycle path could save life. The law should be changed to make it compulsory whenever cycle path is provided.

waynedl:
You god damned dumb ■■■, give your ‘professional’ licence back and go back to collecting shopping trolleys in Tesco :unamused:

Oh well. Pure intelligence :unamused: Your parents really should have used some contraception. That would make world much peaceful place.

He may have put it rather forcefully, but he’s right about you being wrong … it’s not compulsory for bikes to use bike lanes, and neither should it be.

Rhythm Thief:

Indeed. You and emwmarine explained it to me in rather polite and calm way. I should know everything but I do not. If it is ok to be for cyclists on road rather than 2,5 meter wide cycle path than it t should with no doubt be compulsory for everyone’s safety. I see no reasonable reason why it should not. We also move on various state roads with increasing amount of potholes, but at least we know that the tax we all pay goes in the right place rather than be wasted on unused facilities that cost billions of pounds.
As for the abuser I may not be sure if it is mandatory ( some explanations of signs say “Mandatory cycle path” - where I got confused ) but he for sure should give up he’s license with this sort of anger management. Calling anyone dumb ■■■, idiot or whatever else does not help in any discussion in civilized world. And it’s completely off topic.

The main reason it shouldn’t be compulsory for bikes to use bike lanes (in my view) is twofold: one, they don’t exist everywhere (there are none on my 18 mile commute to work, for instance) and where they do exist they’re often a much longer and more laborious route than the road (for instance, where they bypass roundabouts; it’s simpler and quicker to use the roundabout). The second reason is as I and Chester said earlier: cycle paths are ideal for mum and kids on the way home from school, grandad pottering back from the shops with a basket full of shopping or a family pootling along for a leisurely Sunday ride. They’re rather less ideal for a time triallist, a road racer or simply someone - like me - who is not a racer but is still in a hurry to get somewhere and will push a bike along at 20mph or so. If you’re riding over about ten mph, the road is the only place for you.

what a ■■■■ , he needs a good spanking,

a for the cyclist, hes silly for letting himself get in this situation, i helped out at a local school last week, with children doing there cycle proficiency, ant the training chappy was telling all the kids to ride at least a meter from the kerb , from the edge of there handle bars to give room, for correct road positioning from dangers coming from the left as well as pot holes,

Not taking sides here but should there not be a tax then :open_mouth:

There is a “tax”. Bikes are rated at £0 for vehicle excise duty purposes, as zero emission vehicles.

OMG What a foot in front he is !
