What are Manpower like to work for?

Seems like I’ll soon be switching jobs , sounds like a good few quid extra , and if overtime is available , quite a few quid extra . Any good or bad stories please.

Same as any agency. I was never mucked around with pay - although my time sheets were always in on time.
A lot with agencies depends on the staff in the office. I was lucky to be supported by a good office. There’s probably plenty here who have had bad experiences due to poor office staff.

I signed up with manpower Sunderland branch, I know, what was I thinking. After promising plenty work I got one call in six weeks, and that was a job 70 miles away. Other than that they were fine.

Dosent sound promising  any other stories good or bad?

I got some work from them with R.M.it was good money but a lot of messing about.I turned up for a shift at 23.15 for a 23.30 start and was told “go home I wanted you at 23.00”.The zb at R.M.was just throwing his weight about ,the lorry didnt leave til 03.00.This happened on 3 occasions in 6 weeks,I would complain to Manpower and they paid me for 4 hours.I got fed up of them whether it was Royal Mail or Manpower that was cocking it up.

At least you got paid a few hours . When I first started on the dust for Pertemps I was told sorry there’s been a ■■■■ up we don’t need you today , no extra pay . I had a quiet word  and it never happened again . But every day they’d send about five loaders home saying “there’s been a ■■■■ up” . Horrendous company to work for , luckily at my last place I never had any dealings with the agency apart from booking holidays , everything was done for me.

I got something similar of Sunderland…Then they asked me was I interested in the Calor gas job at Port Clarance…Cant be that good ,cos it still been advertised.I didnt bother cos they wanted me on a rota.I take the view that if a firm wants me on a rota…hire me on properly.

I worked for them in 2012/13. I’ve no complaints at all.
Was at Calor and then Energas.
The calor drivers are mostly Manpower staff and some have been there 5 years plus.
But one person, the team leader in multi drop cylinders on the rigids is a devious unpleasant woman. Be wary of her.
She’s calor staff.
The drivers themselves are for the larger part nice lads.
The cylinders Are hard manual graft, but you’re always on the move, I liked tha.
The mini bulkers, big tankers and artic cylinders are ok.
Energas are all smashing lads. Every one of them from managers down to drivers.
I’d go back to manpower over any other agy I’ve ever worked for if I wasn’t now self employed.
Also got placements at Royal Mail, DHL and some place in sunderland who’s name I can’t remember. Work was quite regular.

I’m with manpower(grangemouth) at the moment.
Since I registered with them I’ve had work from them even when I have said that the job I’m on is no good for me.(when I was at a council and doing 6hrs shifts over 5 days for about £10hr, was not enough hours for me, it was 50 miles away and was 1hrs travel there and back).
Yesterday I turn up at a company and was told that I was not needed today, Got the manager to sign my sheet for a full shift, phone manpower and told them, they said as long as they have signed it you will get paid for it.

Love that turning up but not needed shifts that you Still get paid for . There’s an agency in Acton , can’t remember their name that I used to get a few night shifts off back in the day when you could just rip up a tacho at the end of the night . It was for London Underground. And about 1 in 10 shifts you’d be sent home after an hour on full pay with them saying the job Was cancelled . Got to love government type jobs , they do love wasting money

You clicked the wrong button before typing your post.
I fixed it for you. dd.

I was with grangemouth for a few years, 95% of my work was parcelforce or RM, taken on with them full time now so sometimes it works out.
