Had some deliveries in Weston-super-Mare a few weeks back and decided to park there for the night, in the coach park in the middle of the town.
Costs a fiver to park overnight and the general opinion from the regulars seems to be that the majority of the time you can probably get away without buying a ticket, but now and then the parking enforcers come round and check through the night and will knock you up to get one if you haven’t got one displayed. Nothing was mentioned about getting a fine or clamp though.
Paid my fiver and headed off to the Tesco’s across the road to get some money out and find somewhere to get something to eat. I noticed all these truckers walking back to their wagons with arm fulls of polystyrene trays, so being nosey I collared them and asked if it was food and where they’d got it from . I was directed and recommended to go to the “Carvery Fayre, just on the corner”, so I did do on my way back.
Well what a place . Full roast dinner for a fiver . I had a roast beef dinner with Yorkshire’s , 3x different veg, loads of roasties, mash and plenty of beef and gravy. There was that much in the tray (and it was a big tray) that it was falling out of the sides . I also got a rhubarb crumble with custard pudding for a quid eighty too.
It was the best food I’ve had in ages and well recommended . Loads of pubs nearby as you’re in the middle of town too.
Here’s where the coach park is (click it). Follow the main road into Weston-super-Mare, come up over the fly over, over the railway line, turn right at the doughnut, then 25 yards down you come to another one where you come back on yourself and then turn into the coach park.
my first job after passing my class one was delivering to diy stores for a firm that subbed to blue hawk plaster products of ruddington notts and my regular run every week was down that way and i stopped ther everytime although it was only 2quid to park then so im glad to see its still there and the foods still as good if you go further down the m5 rob junction 24 is grahams truckstop which has excellent food and if you parked on the tarmac area by the pumps the parking was free
