Any Westermann drivers out there?
I was Fleet number 714, ran from 1987 to 1994, last few years ( 1989 to 1994 ) was working out of Spain.
First two years was running to Berlin then moved house to Spain.

Hi Peter
I ran a couple of motors for westermann 1995 to 2000 fleet nos 719 DAF2500 ex Nick the Greek, you might remember him.The other was 754 a “fleet spec” MAN pod sleeper, it was bought off Peter Jaques from Rochdale.Peter ran a couple of motors on westermann,Peter his son and daughter drove the trucks. his son still runs a 4 series Scania in full Westermann livery, i will put a pic of it on here along with a pic of an old "retired"one. I have afew shots of mine and other Westermann trucks, including some of Quickfreights who had a few on Westermann. I will have to get my scanner to work as the shots are prints when i do i will put them on here.I have just found a picture of the old “retired” truck E867 WMW when it was in service i think it was run by a chap from the Bristol area.
Hi Peter
Here is the shot of Peter Jaques son’s scania ( i think he’s called Gary but will check) i think this is the only remaining british registerd vehicle in Westerman livery.
Hi boys
There has been some discussions about Quickfreight on Old Oswestry page on the Transport Photo Forum

IIRC he parks on Heywood distribution park at pislworth, its a very smart motor in the flesh, seen it their and also solo a few times at west pennine scania middleton. What does he carry?
Nice to see there are still some Westermann people about.
I’ve been retired since 2001, and between 1995 (when I sold unit 714) and 2001 I was in Saudi as Sales Manager for MAN trucks.
All Westermann info would be good so keep them coming
Thanks
Peter
Thanks Carl for the photos.
Just trying to keep this thread alive.

Hello Peter Pallet, you wouldnt be the fastest man in a Mack, on the A49 would you■■? You have outlasted Swains!! Cheerio for now.
I had a few good weekends at the Albion Inn near Street with a brilliant guy who was on for Quick Freight, looked like a cowboy with the proper hat and long white hair
Also worked with a scouser nicknamed Thrush who was on for Westermann and Quick Freight

Yes I was the driver of Swains Mack (on demo for a run down to Italy) only there for the demo. ( Iworked for Western Truck selling Macks )
Snow on the road, a little too fast , a touch on the brakes and Im in the trees on my side cant steer and a wacking big tree coming up phew!!
Something you dont forget and Mr Swain was not amused neither was I.
Peter
Hello Peter, when ever I pass that spot I bore Norah and A nne Marie with the history!! How are you and Alice? Envy you the sunshine, high winds and rain in Staffordshire today, (and my tractor has no cab)! scooping what Horses drop into tidy piles, (big ones)! long way from lorries now. Only have a Scammell Scarab , but that 16ft trailer can make a fool of the most expert believe me! Turned up those photos of the Crescent Scanias the other day, and in an idle 10 mins thought I wondered if I could find P D, bingo!! Wonderful this electronic trickery, (even if I am not good at it)! this medium is superb is it not. Always thought you made the right decision on MAN (even with a steel back end and an air trailer). I had a 16240 that did 1560,000KMS and never cost me a penny, I was a fool to sell her, as I was with a Cargo 290 drawbar, (120cu m) 895000KMS AND NO BREAKDOWNS, still miss that one, sad is it not? Hope that you are both well, and enjoying retirement. I am, but Im working harder, and with more enjoyment than ever!! What ever happened to Tony?? Last contact I had was from Africa with “a coffee coloured Princess”" !! Hope the Cannibals didnt get him! .My last involvment with Trucks as a living was importing US equipment, mainly Kenworth, (see the Kenworth in UK thread) Back in the 90s, but my favourite was a Mack Interstator RIJ334, ex Lagan Valley Steels, (I think an ex Roadstone Eire build) with who I emulated your A49 moment, except I had a Russian T34 Tank on the back!! Oh happy days, well off for tea I hope, more work tommorow, God Bless, I will raise a glass of Bordeauxs finest to you and Alice, Cheerio, a prochaine, Salut, John G.
Saviem,
