The Walsall police car will used by the Community Safety Team and based at the force’s HQ in Green Lane for the next 12 months.
The vehicle is a fully-electric city car with a top speed of 81 mph (not much good behind my scooby then) and a range of 100 miles. It can be trickle-charged from flat to full in seven hours at any UK three-pin socket, costing under £1 for a full charge.
In addition the i-MiEV can be fast-charged from flat to 80 per cent in 30 minutes.
I wonder if they will be knocking your door with an extension lead asking for a bit of leccy to get them to the cafe?
Imagine the scene as they come to a screeching halt from 20 mph shouting we’re the community safety team son and we have’nt had any dinner. That’s definitely the right motor for the PC Police.

DEE DAR DEE DAR DEEEEEeeeeed!
Guvnor should’nt we give up the chase because our carbon footprint must be going through the roof and I’m sure I saw a 20 mph limit sign back there.

I hazard a bet that it would beat your “Scooby” from a standing start…

Let’s hope that you’re not going to put a lot of money on that bet unless he lets that toy motor have an eighth of a mile head start at Santa Pod.

only problem there is that it does 100 miles my old scooby (sti ra) used to like visiting every fuel station like someone on a pub crawl so hmm… still prefer the scooby
Scooby (sti red top import) does about 23mpg tootling about and god know how many when I drive it hard plus it only runs on shell optimax, she pinks and ■■■■■ when I put “normal” fuel in so I have to plan journeys around shell stations. Wouldn’t have it any other way
