Drivers will be delighted to learn that repairs (and long delays) to the above bridge have been extended until April 2024. The bridge has been open since 1961(I think) and more faults have been discovered during the current repairs.
Excellent news , how will we cope ?
Every time I go through the road works no one is working on the bridge.

Judging by the queues coming off the A1 n/b at the M18 or alternatively the A1 s/b at Ferrybridge I’d suggest that vast amounts of traffic is avoiding it completely. Which is totally understandable. I’ve only ever gone through there since it started at earlier than 6am.
Traffic for the S/B A1 is coming off a the services and running down the wentbridge filter lane, around the mini roundabout and joining the A1 further down avoiding the traffic queueing from the underpass
