Both familiar with that road John. Sharples have had that bungalow for sale for a few years. Not surprised no one is showing interest.

No Keith. Bayliss Bros operate from the yard below Mervyn’s, Phil & Perry Bayliss also have a commercial repair business and tyre depot on the same premises.
Phill Preece has a yard not far from Rotherwas, Hereford.

I remember them loading in the abbey Ray, George we called him squeaky,every Christmas we would give Ray a list of fruit and veg and scrumpy ,his cab was always full good old boys they were ,is George still alive,where in eardisley we’re they based I passed there a couple of weeks ago wondering where the yard was

Sharples yard on the right of pic on same side as Radbournes tipper, now rented off Jean Sharples by a firm selling caravans and furniture etc.

George Turrell packed it in and worked in a tarmac quarries,as a static plant operator on a tarmac plant. He retired about 18 months ago, but is back driving tippers part-time on night and weekend tarmac jobs.
Ray Bent sadly passed away over 20 years ago, at a fairly young age.
John Williams who drove this artic passed away about 2 years ago, and worked for Jean Sharples looking after the big greenhouses that she owns.He was in his early 80’s and drove their first and last artic.

Hi dave,we got trucks that do Hereford, Bromyard Kington,and all areas around them districts we go as far as Builth wells weobley Leominster I go up there if Steve is off I cover his route if you see a Clarkes lorry with twin Ariels that is me,as he still got a squeaky voice :laughing: :laughing:

One of your wagons had an argument with a telegraph pole about 12 months ago John. It was about 2 miles from where I live, by a nasty narrow bridge.
I came past there, just after it had happened. Hope all was OK.
