j & P Turner from Kington, are a very old animal feed and corn merchants family firm from Kington. In the years up until the late 1970’s they ran about 16 lorries, including an artic and a few six wheelers. Nowadays they just run this Daf on wool collection and sell some animal feed and pet and garden supplies and make some deliveries with a Transit van.

Hi Dave that artic would it have been an ERF ? Would see Turners at the feed mill at Avonmouth , and good to see them still in business , regards Keith .

That’s right Keith, they had two ERF artics at different times, also two ERF six wheelers. They bought a lot of new wagons in the late 1960’s and early 70’s.
They wanted to build a new feed mill, and Kington Council turned it down, saying that the relief road would be going though their premises. After that they ran the business down. The relief road didn’t happen, as Kington had a bypass instead, which is a much better option. Not good for Turners to be stopped from updating their business.
Cheers Dave.

Thats councils for you Dave , no conscience ! However Kington did get a by -pass , when will Hereford get its !! Back to Turners they had quite a few Seddon 4 wheelers . Dave have you any pics of Radco was it ? Radnorshire company they had a nice Foden 8 bulker i again would see in Avonmouth , regards Keith .

Hi Keith,
Yes Turners gad a lot of Seddon’s, some 14 ton gross and others at 16 ton gross.I have a pic of Radco’s Foden. Its on the thread somewhere, I will dig it out.
Cheers Dave.
