I think Andrew should “dispose” of his Big Rig and buy this “joints” Foden!!! A far better motor to be seen driving and there looks to be plenty of room to kip on the back!!! Dennis.

Now we are talking Harry’s motors with this shot!!!

hiya,
The old Octopus would be a tad too heavy on the handlebars for me now Dennis, but they was’nt a bad old motor and did have a heater which kept the temperature just above freezing if climbing Shap with 14tons on the tug and 6tons on the pup, but i am talking to the educated, you and Mr P will have done some/plenty.
thanks harry long retired.

hi all,
i haven’t been to the hereford show since the boiling hot summer of 2006 in my volvo f16.this year,on that weekend my son harry and i went to kemble steam fair, looks like we missed a very good well attended event.it would have been good to catch up with cliff ashley and his family (the owners of the joints foden)i haven’t seen them for a while.we are supposed? to be going to the llandysl show this weekend, but the weather is looking grim :frowning: ,then in a few weeks time haydock park truckfest,it’s not far from there to dennis smith towers,ha,ha!    keep your garden gate blocked with a bewick flat loaded with libby rice mate.you never know who may call?,a mad welshman in his obamaville truck!
regards andrew

Cheers Dave.

Lloyds AEC’s lined up at Hereford.

Seen at Hereford this Iveco tipper.Have never seen anyone operate one of these in the quarries this way. They don’t look a bad vehicle, strange that nobody has tried one.

Just been having a scan round Dave ,left Lofty incharge of the Hereford thread gone back to page 3 have to have a word with that boy  You been away have you Dave

Yes went to Cornwall for a week, came back last weekend, had a good holiday near Looe.Where did you go on your hols Fin ?
Cheers Dave.

Don’t know much about the Scania. I worked with the late Doug Dawe when he drove an eight wheeler AEC out of Gore Quarry. I think his son Steve runs the firm now.

hiya,
Dave was Lloyds old Maudslay 8 legger present??, that is a nice old motor i drove a 1939 model for a short while when i first kicked off now that was hard work,no heater no nowt the only plus was it looked well and was well maintained, i think the boss only let me drive it because he thought i would’nt be able to manage it and would have given the other older guys something to laugh about, i proved him wrong drove it it tipped it and re-loaded it and got it back without scratching the paintwork, and yes the Guvnor did give it a good coat of looking at on my return, only left that job because it was only local work and i wanted to get stuck into journey work, the boss did give me a good reference and told me to come and see him if i ever needed a job, people used to say i was the youngest legal 8 wheeler and trailer driver in Britain just 21 and a few weeks of age when i left for pastures new.
thanks harry long retired.

Dawlish Warren, yeah had a good break could do with another now but hey all good things come to them who wait
