Dave why does’nt this guy who must have big wheel aspirations, just get himself a class one licence then he can enjoy driving a proper motor, but to give the lad his due he’s sure got dedication and has made a good job of that little beauty.

Can’t really answer that one Harry, unless he has got bigger vehicles, plus license.Quite possibly these days he can earn more with that little moter than the big boys earn.He wouldn’t have the overheads for a start, also people are always looking for small loads.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Yes Dave a pal of mine started driving a 7 cwt van when the BRS finished up this way like me could have gone to work for private hauliers and again like me had no fancy true it was one of his relatives he got work with but he had a bigger pay packet than drivng big stuff, no licence and medicals to bother with no tacho’s and home every night when i met him socially some years later he was still punching his Astra van about and loving it, he did’nt miss class one driving at all and never once thought about renewing his class one licence.

One of D A Larkins of Droitwich, seen at Hereford Truck Show.

David Edwards from Knighton Atkinson with an engine which might interest Dennis :exclamation:

Nice to see this one out and about again - previously it was operated for many years by P H Antell from Shillingstone in Dorset, and had a tidy-looking sleeper conversion on it. It was said to have bee the last Borderer built (though not the last Atkinson) but I can’t say whether that has been substantiated.

hiya,
Just goes to show the dedication of these people a sleeper cab would i suppose been useful at these shows but to get the old girl back to “from the factory condition” the sleeper pod has been removed and does’nt she look great, nearly good enough to bring me out of retirement looks good enough to put back to work and i bet capable of another million miles.

Hi 240,
You are probably right about it being the last Borderer built, because there was a feature in the local press in this area about the vehicle a couple of years ago.William Stobart and David Edwards who owns the Borderer were pictured with it.apparently Stobarts borrowed the unit for something they were doing.
Cheers Dave.

A couple of A E Gough’s units,seen next to Mark Preedy’s V8 Scania at the show.

A couple of Mick Gwynn’s moters at the show.

Of course, Stobart have their own 8LXB Borderer now!

Hi Steve,
That was the only place we could take pics of lorries coming from the show, the light was wrong, also traffic and pedestrians.
The Constructor is an ex Bill Eggerton lorry which Jack bought with Paul’s advice and painted it up in C W Griffiths colours.
The Bison is the one on my Avator. Here’s one of their other Constructors.
Chers Dave
