Well that served me right

monday night went in to work at 6 collected a scania from sutton in ashfield and did 2 trips to great bear at fradley total work time 4 1/2 hours knocked off at 10.30.

last nite :smiling_imp:

did the wolverhamton to burton trunk back to wolverhampton to do a mansfield. got back as far as tamworth services and called in for a break knowing i will be done for midnight.

pulled out of tamworth services to join the m42 north when it all went pear shaped .accelerating down the slip road the clutch on the truck went stiff meaning i was stuck in 4 gear.well i managed to get all the way to junc 11 where i pulled of and got in the first layby towards burton. (werent sitting on the hard shoulder.

called life line and he come out after a 1hour 25 mins took one look and the clutch bearing had gone so it was recovery time another 1 1/2 later we was on our way back to scania in burton. were its going to sit for a while.

it was due out at 4 am :open_mouth: .

this is a hire unit we have had for 2 days while waiting for our new ones to turn up

lets hope tonites better

Spot on Mal, all this new fangled rubbish  .

I understand that on modern cars you canā€™t start the engine if itā€™s in gear and you havenā€™t got your foot on the brake. So howā€™re you going to manage if the clutch is knackered :unamused:

Salut, David.

David, I dunno where itā€™s all going to end M8! I was told the other day about a motor that started off the turn of a key! Itā€™ll never catch on!

Nah, seriously, itā€™s mentale the way things are going, itā€™s all but kicked the cheap mechanic into touch. I knew a great bloke that would do the job at your home, and his prices were affordable.

He told me he was on the way out about 4 years ago as he cant afford or maybe even get, all the gizmoā€™s that are needed for modern engines and the like. I like it simple personally, less to go wrong!

called life line and he come out after a 1hour 25 mins took one look and the clutch bearing had gone so it was recovery time another 1 1/2 later we was on our way back to scania in burton. were its going to sit for a while.

According to my information  The technician took just over half an hour to get to you, The job was accepted by the workshop at 23.27 and he arrived at 00.00,

Did you ring the breakdown direct or did you ring your transport office and they called the breakdown in?

If I think I know the person who came out to you then he donā€™t do slow driving

Eyes everywhere you know :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Oh and its now ā€œScania Assistanceā€ not ā€œScania Lifelineā€ as I know they will watching this so i have to do the job properly! (you know who you are!)

I saw it mentioned in a newspaper write-up on a new model and then my friend who has a Smart said it was the same on that.

Know what you mean Mal. For the first time in years I serviced my Saxo this time but I realise I canā€™t do it all the time because I donā€™t have the electronic gizmos to check all the computerised stuff, and this is over 7 years old.

Salut, David.

I think some of the new Renaults are like that. They donā€™t even have a handbrake lever.

transport office!!! your joking  i had to ring him at home just as he was going to bed.

fair play to them had it back on the road by 7.30 am  big thumbs up to scania

all done by electronics apparantly. bit of a pain to get used to at first espeicially on a hill start.
