Well known haulier closes down

A HAULAGE boss last night said his drivers would keep their jobs after the company ceased trading following a disputed tax bill.

HM Revenue and Customs issued a winding-up order against John Toulson (Teesdale) Limited, of Middletonin- Teesdale, County Durham, after Mr Toulson failed to pay a bill of more than £200,000.

Administrators Tait Walker, based in Gosforth, Newcastle, confirmed the company ceased trading on August 22.

Wheres it going to end?

Lets hope John manages to continue with the Barnard Castle Truckshows

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: Not sure what to say other than i’m shocked.

thats a real shame new john years ago when he raced f1 stockcars

Its time for a showdown or union involvement…here endeth the lesson

I agree willie.

But most of us need to make a profit before we get a tax bill, so where’s the money.
could have just needed a more constructive accountant.

Its called very tight margins !! all you need is late payers or a few to go bust and you are in deep crap

And wtf are the unions supposed to do about that…?

Its called a strike for a reduction in taxes !!! And for the other on this site that said they couldnt care , not there problem…I would think again

Due to the amount of duty paid by UK hauliers. Don’t you think they should be excempt from corporation tax. And the directors and drivers should be excempt from income tax?

If they don’t give in to our demands we will all unite as one and show this government what we are made of. We wll drive them into the sea.

Am i dreaming again.

Willie thats the most hilarious thing I’ve heard in years, your forgetting that we are talking about the UK Haulage Industry

Just to remind you in case you’ve forgotten or not realised

The UK Haulage Industry is the most diabolical industry in the world, where drivers cannot back each other, and where hauliers are prepared to cut each others throats to obtain lucrative contracts even if it means doing them for a loss or very little profit because it gives them the appearance of being “The No 1 Haulier”

The Haulage industry must also be one of the worst industries for voluntary Union Membership, and even then, I would say a vast majority of those who are union members, they only joined for the fringe benefits such as free Legal representation or driving fines paid.

Most Hauliers are complaining about rates and fuel costs, yet they wont increase their charges? Some Dare not and others are frightened.

Sorry Mate but anyone who thinks the unions could sort this mess out is living in cloud cuckoo land, drivers are not prepared to back their work mates let alone other union members.

John Toulson is disagreeing with his tax bill, hhhmmm thats something only he knows the full details about, Its a shame the company has closed but at the end of the day if he got his tax returns wrong then the money is owed end of !!!

If he knows the tax office is wrong he can appeal and have it investigated along with seeking compensation if he is found to be right.

But either way, expecting spineless companies to support action for reduced taxes is simply a dream, everyone knows fairly well that if Haulier “A” stopped his trucks in protest, Haulier “B” would be more than happy to get the additional income by doing his work

Sad but true Davey.

Ain’t that a fact:imp:

So another haulier goes to the wall…sad…but a true fact…200 grand may not seem much but it depends on the size of the company…hes obviously earnt the money or the taxman wouldnt send him a bill…if you cant pay your bills…your gonna lose it…if its the gas…they cut you off…if its the electric…they cut you off…if its the mortgage…you lose your home…if its the car…you lose it…if its your business…you lose it…especially when you owe her majesty taxes…
The sad fact of the matter is this haulier has joined the ranks of many other welll known transport operators…and no one is safe…the blame lies with our wonderful government who through their negligence refuses to help our haulage industry…until it is being run by incompetent europeans.

But have they gone bust?

Followed one of their rigid tippers up the A1 this morning, just after the A66 Darlo turn off.

John Toulson in a newspaper report:
his children planned to take up the reins, ensuring the futures of 30 drivers.

Hopefully then,that’s good news.
