to those who’ve had a pop at bob sugesting he’s making it sound better than it is for the sake of a poxy $250 perhaps you could explain why it is that he offered to put me and the wife up at his place when we were planning a recce trip? was it for financial gain or was it because he actually wanted to help us out? would you have nigh on complete strangers in your house for one hundred odd quid? think about it.
BT, you’ve posted some good questions on some of the forums and made some people (especially the recruiter from pei) look very uncomfortable but i’ve gota tell yer mate your starting to look like you’ve got a very big axe to grind for some reason, it’s just a bit to much everyday, if you don’t think it’s for you fair play, don’t go, but don’t fall into the same trap daft rob has where everyone is now convinced he’s sat in some grotty bedsit somewhere living out some sort of fantasy existence, jealous of everybody in the real world with a real life.
If you read the posts about the $250 “perk” we’re on about at OLT you will see that everybody more or less told BTD to take it.
I on the other hand told him that if he had the “guilty complex” to take it and give it to a Canadian charity that works with his wifes previous illness,I didn’t know what the outcome had been and I apologise to BTD that I got it wrong. 
I still think the BTD is a mug not to take the money and give it to a charity because if BFS are making enough profit that they are still able to park brand new Volvo’s up against the fence at their terminal while waiting on drivers I think they wouldn’t miss the $250 “perks” that BTD has earned 
As for my post about the mileage paid I was talking about OTR trucking companies in general and most pay Rand/PC Milner which “usually” means coming up 10% short on the miles you’ve actually driven.
All you OTR guy’s in Canada always state you have to “work hard” (some even post “extremely hard” 
) thats no problem with me except that it would be nice to be paid for all that working hard.
If “most” of you guy’s want to go on logging 70 hours/week but actually working 90 and only getting paid for 50 more the fool you

Fwiw, I’ve no issue with anyone moved to another country to better themselves lifestyle wise - good on them - but what I do have an issue with is you banging on about Canada like it’s some ■■■■■■■ Holy Grail. For every 1 post where you slip in the words “hard work” you make another 50 saying it’s a bed of roses and the best thing since sliced bread.
Of course, you’re perfectly entitled to your opinion - who isn’t - but you’re giving out this “advice” to guys who are specifically looking for a honest and realistic picture of what it’s like out there.
The simple truth of the matter is that it’s not anything like you make it out to be. If it was that good out there then why is there a new post on one of forums every other day from an ex-pat that was fed a load of promises and guarantees, upped stickes and gone out there, found out it was all a load of BS and then jumped on the next plane back? Not to mention the thousands who are stuck out there and simply don’t have enough money left to return home. 
It’s clear you are still excited by it all, with your 18 bedroom cardboard house that cost you $8.50 and your 3000 hectares of land. You’re happy with the 2 cents per km that BFS are you paying you too, because you’re getting a cash in hand $250 every time you introduce a new driver (which is every other day) so of course you’re going to be happy. It’s the poor folks who are gambling everything and putting their entire life savings on the line for a better life out there. These people are putting their trust in your word that it’s right for them and the simple fact of the matter is that it’s no better than here when it’s all said and done but you don’t give a toss about them losing everything because BFS are keeping your pockets full with introductory bonuses.

The vast majority of the OTR Companies in NA not just Canada pay the CPM system which IN MY OPINION is a scam to screw the dirver out of money he rightly earned and in turn provide the trucking company with better profits.
NOBODY can deny that driving for CPM means they are left sitting about for hours on end every month either in the truck or sat at home without earning any wages.
If an OTR company is experiencing a “slow down” they just leave you sat at home waiting on the phone to ring earning “diddly squat” because driving CPM really boils down to being no different to an agency driver here in the UK

According to the BFS website you are going out to earn “PC Miler” miles which is just the same as “Rand” which means you will sell yourself short 10% this month again if its true about the BFS office bods being “rookies”
BTW,
