Right then, follow closely!! Starting from Sunday 6th March, i worked my normal pattern (sunday-thursday) and worked Friday 11th March as o/t. I then had Saturday 12th - Thursday 18th (today) as annual leave and they have asked me if i can cover tonight (N’hampton, 5pm start approx 11pm finish). I am back in on Sunday (20th) at 6pm and realise that this has probably buggered my rest up for next weekend as they have asked me if i can cover next friday (25th). Long and short of it is, can i do next Friday without breaking anything? If it helps, i normally finish Friday am at approx 5ish, give or take half hr
Actrosman:
can i do next Friday
simple answer = YES
First 45 hours of your holiday was full weekly rest for the week 7 to 13
Last 45 hours of your holiday was a full weekly rest for this week 14 to 20
From Friday (today) at 11pm to sunday 6pm is an EXTRA reduced weekly rest which is not counted for any week and does not need compensating for but allows you to start a new 144 hours

You’ve had a regular weekly rest this week (holiday) so the period from approximately 23:00 tonight until 18:00 Sunday will be a reduced weekly rest period (no compensation required) purely for the sake of starting a new six 24 hour periods starting at 18:00 Sunday.
Yes you can legally work next Friday 25th March and you should start either a regular or reduced weekly rest period no later than 18:00 Saturday 26th March.
Hope this helps
edit:
If your usual starting time on Sunday is 18:00 then depending on what time you finish next Friday/Saturday (25th/26th) you will most likely have a reduced weekly rest next weekend so you will need a full 45 hours the following weekend.
So…my ‘normal’ week starts @ approx 1800 Sunday (start time is my choice but could swing it to 1900), daily rest isn’t an issue as i start through the week @ 2100ish and normally im done by 0500- 0530 with a very rare 0600, giving me between 15-16 hrs/day. Sundays im done for approx 0130/0200, which is still ample daily rest, yes? So, if i start next friday @ approx 1800 (daily rest ok, even 0600 Friday finish gives me 12 off) and finish at 2300 Friday, then my weekly rest (if i start @ 1800) would be 43hrs. If i were to start @ 2000 on Sunday (45hrs rest) would this cover everything Or am i missing something somewhere? Compensation? My normal weekly rest is somewhere close to 60hrs. Need to ‘learn’ all this stuff again as Friday o/t seems quite regular now and nobody else wants to know but (a) i don’t want to break anything in doing the extra (b) want to do as much as poss as we don’t know how long we will be at this depot. Weekly rest/reduced rest has never been a problem until now as i never worked weekends (just did extra on the end of a normal day ((if i knew about it in advance, i would start later in the evening but never had less than 11 off)) but what with the country going into meltdown, it’s a ‘needs must’ type of situation! Thanks for the input guys, appreciated. hope you can understand that…i can’t!!

I agree that you don’t seem to have any problems with daily rest so lets stick to weekly rest
As you say, if you start your weekly rest at about 23:00 Friday and restart work at 20:00 Sunday you will have had a regular 45 hour weekly rest period, if you can always do this then there’s no reason why you should not work every Friday evening if you want.
With the times you’ve given it doesn’t even look as if you would come close to going over the 48 hour average week either.
So no you don’t seem to be missing anything and good luck with the overtime

Yes I think it’s reasonably understandable
Thats the thing with night’s, most of it is sat around waiting to be loaded, have a 45 at other end which gives me ooooodles of time for a ‘straight’ run back to base (2:45), instead of parking up in a dirty old layby on the 34 somewhere! On paper, my total hours for a ‘normal’ week are (start to finish) are between 40 & 45 so never have any infringements for hours/rest and all that daily rest is a real bonus…especially summertime! Thanks for clearing that up Rog/Tachograph, appreciated
Just to clarify, the clocks go forward 1 hour early Sunday morning, will this still mean that if i finish at 23:00 Friday (25th) i can still start at 20:00 or will that have to move to 21:00 as the clock going forward has no ‘count’ on actual rest?? Or can i start at 19:00 as this will ‘effectively’ be 20:00 or just start at 20:00 as normal…i dunno!!

If you finish at 23:00 Friday you will have completed a 45 hour rest at 21:00 Sunday, especially if you use a digital tachograph
The thing is that if you use a digital tachograph it records all times in UTC time which never changes, so it would show a weekly rest period of 44 hours if you start at 20:00.
Cheers TG, thats cleared that up nicely. We still run anologue, we have nothing modern at ours!! Looks like i need to try and get away early friday to be back by 22:00 but i don’t think that will happen, 21:00 is to late but never mind, will see how it pans out
