I understand the weekend rules for reductions and ferry breaks. But what i cant figure out from the rules or by asking anyone is can you interupt a weekend rest for ferry movements as you can in the week. Example if i can, my w/end break would be 37hrs if not only 24, i’m trying to work it out how much i need to pay back, rules arent to clear on it. Can someone pls help. thanks

Simple answer is NO
If you have a reduced weekly rest period available, you would need to make up the difference from 37 to 45 which is 8 hours by the end of the 3rd week following the reduction.
ok thankyou wheelnut
so my weekend rest was only 24 it would have been 37 if the ferry movements were allowed but if not then i have 21 to pay back boss will be happy but if he wants the job done then he’ll have to live with it thanks

If I understood you correctly, now I am not sure I do.
If you had 37 hours available if you didn’t catch a ferry, than it still counts as a 24 hour or reduced weekly break.
If you only take 24 then you owe 21 hours, but if you take 26 hours you only owe 19 and so on.
I think you mean can I split a weekly rest with a ferry movement… without it affecting my rest period… Then No you cant

Article 9
1. By way of derogation from Article 8, where a driver
accompanies a vehicle which is transported by ferry or train,
and takes a regular daily rest period, that period may be
interrupted not more than twice by other activities not
exceeding one hour in total. During that regular daily rest
period the driver shall have access to a bunk or couchette.
Article 8
3. A daily rest period may be extended to make a regular
weekly rest period or a reduced weekly rest period.
If a weekly rest period includes a full daily rest period then does article 9 1. apply?
Does it only apply if done within the full daily rest period part of the weekly rest?
Hmmm…
