Weekend away, how much to expect to be paid?

Hi

I was just wondering how much a driver should expect to be paid for doing weekend away either in this country or on the continent?

Thanks

let me rephrase it for you
How much should a driver expect to get paid for doing his weekly break away from the depot?

An 8 hour day and a night out would not be unreasonable, not that many operators do ‘reasonable’ .

If on a day rate…You should be paid the same. You’re still in the truck.

Don’t expect to be paid for every hour you spend away, some companies pay one rate per weekend, others do the 8 hours and night out. Some just pay a bare minimum, you wont get a definitive answer on here as it varies so much.

Hi Brados

I’m not looking for a definitive answer, just trying to find out what to expect and what others are getting paid.

Thanks

so your weekended ,taking your weekly rest away from home ? This was brought up years ago at a firm i was at .driver…how much i get boss…Boss .do i pay you to go out on the ■■■■ when your at home not working on weekly break??.
answer .■■ the truck ,its your time off .
times might have changed and bosses more in tune with the times but i doubt it.
50gbp as night watchman would be nice though.
jimmy.

I get 8 hours and a night out, only had to take a 24 off once though and it was midweek. Got the bus to white haven and spent the day talking to locals drinking beers had a right laugh.
Would be pretty depressing taking a 24 or 45 without access to civilisation. Could pay me by the full hours and I wouldn’t do it without something to do, I get cabin fever. Don’t mind being out all week but I need to get out at night once or twice and speak to people.

As ollie says get away from the truck and do something - anything or you will go nuts. Enjoy.

Used to get £100 a day when i was ever weekened

as a double manned truck we were on 8 hours a day each until I said that that’s fine when empty, but if I was expected to sit with a loaded truck I wanted 12 hours as we were double manned two sets of 12 hours gave 24 hours coverage to the truck. (as well as up to 12 hours away from it as well) this was accepted with no problems. worked for me.

Weekend out, £150.

Some companies only pay night out allowence and don’t pay if the wheels ain’t turning , so in effect only pay you upto 6 cards/days each week, Now as long as they don’t expect you to park up unpaid for 45rhs or more , or not pay if you are on a long ferry crossing , such as ferries to sweden or spain that tend to be nearley 24rhs then that’s fine if the daily rate or wage is good (£120 per day before tax) + n/o and meal allowences

I don’t mind, and have gone the extra mile, but a uk driver weekended in the uk :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: mmmmmmmmmmmm in the words of that great wordsmith pam ayres,“bugger off”.

I get £100 per day plus night out money for the privilege of a weekend away. I’m not staying away from family for free ya nos! Personally I think that’s quite fair and I’m quite happy 2 weekends away at that

My last place would weekend me away from home more often than not.

80 quid a day plus night out money and parking reimbursed. Can’t complain at the money but equally can’t do that month in month out for years either. So I didn’t
