2 hours?
I can wash a double decker bus prior to a wedding hire with a hose, tub of soapy water and a long handled brush in less than half an hour, and that includes going round the bottom half and windows with a squeegee.
Add another 15 to 20 minutes with a broom, and then a mop to do the inside of both decks and a dustpan and brush for the platform. Another 10 minutes to fix the ribbons and bows and set the blinds, and I’ve still done it in less than half the time.
I take about an hour and a half at the end of every week if I’m home. T cut and polish (he pays) once a month. Usually do it on the Friday if it’s light enough.
As.drift says it’s all about company image. I can’t be doing with a dirty lorry. If the gaffer didn’t pay me to do it I still probably would. Would supply exterior cleaning stuff though.
So it may look good to the customer but do you get paid anymore for washing it. Honest to god you all be servicing the lorry for them next for free, or even fuelling it up for them
I get out of the polish and tcut thing, mine has a wrap
commonrail and dafman u should be ashamed of yourselves ! Have a bit of pride !!!
Drift:
As I said I get paid to wash it but I also take pride in the thing.
If it looks good to customer that’s a bonus rather than turning up in a battered filthy shed and giving a crap impression may just help keep you in a job or get you or your company another order/sale or what ever.Yes those in the massive companies may think different but for us in smaller depots each job/order/sale counts
I even shave sometimes
+1 if it makes our little business get noticed by one more customer that’s potentially another hours work from them and on a quite week we need them. I am a clean freak though but have to admit mine hasn’t been washed in almost a fortnight it was getting disheartening standing in the rain on my break just for it to look the same an hour later I know spend my “free time” everyday asleep .

As mentioned above you are preventing it getting ingrained into the paint work so no need to put hours of effort in when regular cleaning keeps on top of it

if he aint payin…[zb] it.
+1. I don’t wash trucks because I’m not paid enough to do it…

It would help if Tescos had the budget to actually to turn on the wash on…

Cheap & stupid, every little does help…
I’ve washed my unit precisely once in the three years I’ve had this job. I only ever drive it in the dark and no one can see it anyway.
Wash mine 2 or 3 times a week. Half an hour or so (rigid) occasionally this can just be the cab and back doors, particularly with all the salt on the road.
I’m a bit OCD over it, have to have the cleanest motor on the yard.
Haven’t washed mine in 5 weeks. Hopefully scania will wash it while it gets serviced today.
Does anyone do it in their own time?
I’d let them wash the blasted truck if it was that important to them Funnily enough they wanted me to wash mine last night, on account of there not being a lot of work on at the moment, fair enough say’s I,but when push came to shove I left it on account of the near hurricane force wind tearing everything up. So, it got left, until a quiteter time
I think I do sometimes. Salaried to 50 hours. Very rarely I don’t get my hours in, so I could just go home, but instead I make sure mine looks the dogs.
I’ve nothing made by All Ride, but I do put my personal touch on my motors. Door edge strips, reflective tape on the mirrors (only do this so I can find it easier on the yard) I buy my own stuff to keep it clean, and make it smell nice.
Not my truck im not cleaning it
The ones who say the same on inside make me wonder
What their houses are like
I know a few day drivers only driver that drive it apart from holidays
And have the odd night out
Have seen cleaner rubbish bins dont know how
Anyone can live in it all day i certaiy couldnt
Outside id rather it clean for personal preference
Rather than everytime you touch something
Covered in crap
2 hrs bit ott but in your options i would do myself
Half hour max wouldnt do trl esp if swap trls
But if freezing cold i might opt for the tenner option
But if paying cash surprising how many do it for. £10-£15
Mate of mine who od takes 2 hrs but that with a sponge no brush and includes chassis
So lance and brush 30 mins tops
WAy is out there at mo show you take pride in job
If was redunamcies could make you one of ones who stays

actually my lorry is immaculate, but only because he PAYS me to keep it that way.
My current truck is a rental. It’s dirty now, but I don’t like it that way. Shame as it’s brand new.
