was i caught?????????????

i was driving on the A590 today towards burrow. i was in a world of my own and day dreaming as just came back from two weeks of on holiday and thought i was still driving a car…
i was doing 48 on a single dual carriageway and i know the speed is 40.
do you foks think i will get away with it… does the camera know i am a lorry and not a car…
thanks for your advice.

So what was it?? A single carriageway, a dual carriageway, or a single lane dual carriageway??
If the speed limit is 40, but not for cars, then presumably you were on a single carriageway with a national speed limit. The camera would then be set for 60 plus whatever margin of error they allow. I don’t think standard GATSO cameras can tell the difference between cars and lorries but I could be wrong.

If you were on a dual carriageway with national speed limit then you have nothing to worry about, but then you knew that!

Al.

i was driving on a single carriage way,
should be ok…

Some GATSO’s are set up to be able to tell the difference between cars and trucks. Some have a height sensor a bit before the camera, some have those wires in the road, some can measure the amount of return from the radar.

Whether or not you got away with it you will find out by the end of next week. If a NIP comes through the door, you didn’t.

Unfortunately, if the NIP arrives, you will have to take your licks. You have confessed on an open forum that the camera got you bang to rights. People are paid to read sites like this and some victims have been prosecuted for perjury, as well as the original crime. One biker was prosecuted on the evidence of a posted video, of him riding his bike at very illegal speeds on the Uk’s public roads.

That one outside the belfry is a swine . It flashed some poor bugger towing a caravan and they were only going a tad faster than the 40mph i was …

got caught twice earlier this year in jockland both 40 limits and my first reaction was "it’s all wrong, it’s a scam, it wasn’t me, i’ve been turned over"etc etc but although both cases are still pending (hope to get away with one) where as i used to run a few mph over the limit if the road was clear, now i don’t, so the powers that be would say the cameras have done their job. i never used to fly about as such but since i’ve stuck religiously to the limit it hasn’t made a blind bit of difference to the job, it certainly hasn’t cost me any money.
i agree some stretches of single carriage way could be 50 but surely better to hold everyone up so eventually they spend some of our hard earned upgrading the road to a dual so everyone’s happy?

Be aware that the Cash Camera on the A303 west bound Illminster Bypass section (just before you get to the A358 towards Taunton) can tell that your a HGV. I got done for 56 in a 40 after numerous cars had sped through at 60.

think theres a lot more gatso’s about now that can tell the difference, than people realise, been no end caught on the chesterfield road running from worksop upto j30 m1 and the cameras have been there for years.

My first speeding ticket was doing 47mph in a rigid about 7 years ago on a national speed limit road in lincolnshire .
The A57 at newton trent after that daft toll bridge .

I followed a car through town a while ago. Doing 27 mph by my speedo, but aince he had vinyl letters in the rear view window that read 9 points I kept back and respected his needs.
He lost that respect when he ignored the changing traffic lights and turned left through a red light.

After coming of the A14 at Huntingdon, onto the A141 in the Warboys direction, there is a camera that can definately tell if you’re a HGV!! It used to get no end of Stobarts drivers when the Wisbech depot was still open!!

 that one by the belfry whants doctoring :smiling_imp:

That one by the Belfry. One night I was following a dumbass driving a ‘Roller’. He saw the camera and slowed down to such an extent that I overtook him without going above 40.

Is there some ‘inverse relationship’ between wealth and knowledge? Or is it just down to the inter-breeding of our nobility?
