Had my c+e test on Monday morning but nearly didn’t get to take it as I was the first person that the examiner had for a test that haddnt already passed c and I didn’t have the upscaling email as I had applied for my provisional after the change over date. So I did have c+e provisional entitlement but the examiner had no way of knowing.
Luckily I had my national insurance number so could show her online that I had the provisional entitlement and I was allowed to do the test.
It might not be an issue for other people but I would suggest your take your national insurance number then you can prove you have the entitlement with the online checker if it is an issue.
Stressful start to your test You didn’t say, but I hope you passed despite it.
Maybe this is a generational thing but we got it hammered into us at school (in the late 70’s) that you MUST memorize your NI number immediately.

Same here. Mine is still imprinted in my brain and I still have the original card they used to send.

I didn’t have my card but luckily I can remember mine. But a lot of others might not be able to. Luckily I still passed but was in a bit of a flap so I’m suprised I passed.
Very interesting but unsurprising. When the rules changed I heard of another candidate who was refused to be taken on test by the examiner as the automated response from DVLA email did not state the drivers name nor licence number; it wouldn’t, it’s a completely generic and automated reply!
Unfortunately, from speaking with a few LGV examiners, DVSA have been quite poor in passing information and guidance down to them regarding new practices since the change of rules. This sort of thing should not be happening 3 months in.
Nevertheless, very well done on your pass.
surly the fact that you got your provisional at a certain time that can be proven with your liscence would be proof enough that your allowed to go straight to c+e or is that too complicated for the examiners to work out.
DVSA and DVLA seem grossly incompetent. Both need their backsides kicking.
Good that you were able to prove you had the entitlement! I can remember my NI and driving licence, and in fact too much information I don’t even need anymore (I have an eidetic memory).

No, Provisional entitlement is not shown anywhere on your licence (I have D & D+E provisional but it is not reflected anywhere except online).
It should be left to the booking process, i.e. you can’t book a test without a valid provisional, and it shouldn’t be brought up when you turn up for the test. But I guess it might be advisable for those that applied after 15 Nov to just do the email as well as belt and braces.
I passed my C+E test earlier this week and the examiner wanted to see my email to and the reply from extra provisional. I had both printed out just in case.

simple online check shows you have the provisional somthing the training school would of done before taking you out on the road
I had checked my licence online so knew I had the entitlement.
My training school would have done a check. I had to give them a check code before I started.
It should have been impossible to bookt the test without the right.entitlement.
But the examiner said they have to check that you have the entitlement before starting the test. The trouble is the licence doesn’t change, it was still the same one I got after my car test. The only change is didgital. But the examiners can’t check online themselves as the don’t have a system to do it. She said they don’t even get told about most changes to anything they end up finding out themselves.

Anyone can check online with three bits of info then that does not make sense
If you use the extra provisona email does this show on your online licence or do you get a new card to add the provisional. I have the reply to the initial email.
Thanks

No. All you get, and all you need, is the confirmation email from DVLA. You must produce this for your test - together with a copy of the initial email request to DVLA. No need to print out. You can show the examiner on a phone/device.
Hope this helps, Pete S
Watch out for this !!! In a lot of instances you can use your licence number and NI number to go on line and the DVLA site will show that you do NOT have C+E entitlement….ridiculous I know.
Email DVLA and they will email back instantaneously confirming your entitlement BUT the email MUST be in your name…not your instructors……a lot of examiners will insist on seeing this email……do yourself a favour and print off a hard copy rather than use your phone.
Hi All,
Has anyone had an issue with regards examiners when you don’t need the e-mail?
I got my provisional in Jan, so all the classes were on there as it was past the November cutoff. As such, I have no email but do have all the classes.
I’ve got my test next week, should I maybe take a screenshot of my entitlements to show them just in case they get confused? I also know my NI number and licence number off by heart, so hopefully they can check it at the centre if needed, but I don’t want to get rejected by a confused examiner…!

You should be fine. Best of luck with it, Pete S

Excellent advice if you have a suspect phone battery. Otherwise, phone is perfectly acceptable.
