WARNING iPad/iPhone users

mkb600:
I have been more that happy with my iphone 4s, but as I use Google maps and street view a lot I will not download new system.
One of the reasons I got an apple was for maps and street view which I use a lot, if this is no longer available will I be able to opt out of my contract?

I bet I can’t…

just don’t update. Job done.

I love my Nokia Lumia…

+1

I use the current maps app all the time so I’m hanging on until at least google launch a maps app that will include street view.

Definitely a fail on Apples part to cut the old maps before getting the new one up to speed.

Cheers
Neilf

Not gonna down load it either if no street view as this is great for finding Goods in gates at supermarkets etc…

Use Android, you have Google maps if you’re online,
You can save google maps for offline viewing 240mb for whole of uk
Even better NAVFREE on google play is excellent free satnav sofware
Route 66 is another free app, just as accurate as any satnav just that the map graphics aren’t as good.

Fricking ipoo! Why does anyone own one

Smartphones are capitalist labour saving devices, ill stick to my Nokia 3310 and a compass thank you very much

Siri is still crap. And the maps are rubbish too!

I am happy with my phone I bought of e-bay for 29 pounds. It takes two sim cards, has blutooth, plays music through normal 3.5 mm jack, batery last for ages (recently after I disconnected it from the charger in Belgium, it was playing music all the way to Prague, then from Prague to Wrocław, then I was using it for two days, then I was playing music in my car from Wrocław to Brno, then was using it for another 6 days! All glory to the hindu technical solutions

(and I have internet in my netbook and my navigation in my sat nav :stuck_out_tongue:)

Thanks everyone, just this minute opened an email telling me about everything you are on about, was going to download when I got home, close shave… I’d be gutted if it knaffed my google maps up, I use that all time now on iPad instead of sat nav…phew…

copilot gps is also free with 1 map of users choice… Obviously I chose UK, but you can choose any 1 map.

funny thing is new maps is worked on with tom tom yet they ■■■■■■ up

siri still uses google

still waiting on my 5 being delivered

I always used Navfree GPS Live UK & ROI for my mapping in the UK and that still woks fine I hardly ever used street view, but if you want to you can still access it via the WWW using safari.

Got back from shop yesterday and my wife says…"I’ve updated your phone for you "…grrrr

Checked my local area on the maps and its got Crewe listed as WrexhamCrewe … Wtf?
Also there’s at least 2 pubs marked that have been demolished for at least 3 years probably longer
Street names spelt wrong and worse in the wrong place
Where the hell did apple get the maps from or did they ask the kids in the crèche to help

I believe Apple got the map data from Tomtom but Tomtom are saying they only supplied the data not the software that uses the data and apparently it’s Apples software that’s at fault.

APPLE MAPPING UPDATE:

Apple have issued an apology over its mapping software on the latest upgrade. Apple say they are repairing and updating mapping starting from its headquarters. They have nearly completed their own country and should be close to the border with Mongolia later today
