Walking floor work

What’s the money like pulling walking floors , is there any Additional training as the trailers are possibly top heavy do any drivers haul to the continent or is it just uk work .

Don’t know what the work is like, but this might have an impact on the industry - theguardian.com/environment … import-ban

No training required, not really any different to pulling a heavy box trailer, some companies do do near Europe, but not many. Can’t say that I’ve noticed any increase in piles of plastic in any of the places we go into.

Most of what I do goes to landfill, don’t think anyone will be too bothered if it includes more plastics that people can’t be bothered to separate.

It’s slowed down alot since November last year, wudnt b advising anybody to buy a trailer at the moment, the waste end of things is looking a bit uncertain at the moment with no plastics moving. Hence a lot of undercutting at the start of the year, with company’s looking to keep trucks moving

I got 2 days training on the trailer.
Too many delays for percentage work, though.
Forked it off,after 3 months

And the worst thing is that there are no real alternatives in the short term as to where to send the plastic. There is always the option to make fuel out of it, but it is a very polluting activity.

Pretty sure i read somewhere recently that you can mix plastic recycling in with tarmac when making new roads, seems like a good idea too me !

IM not sure China was ever taking our waste plastic , but they did put a ban on waste paper/card which they take shed loads of that had any waste plastic in it . Up till the ban there was always the odd bit of plastic / polythene mixed in but none allowed now

I loved walking floor work I was carrying reels of paper out and waste paper back in the uk and loaded petty much anything back from Europe .you can load pretty much anything in them treated like a box trailer . Money is no different to normal general haulage and no worries about strapping

Just don’t drive like a ■■■ and you are fine, I find the money a bit better compared to general/boxes but the wages aren’t exactly brilliant here to start with… best type of work I’ve done and glad to have gone back to it this week!
