VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) and the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) are to be merged into a single agency, most probably with a new name.
Personally, I think that’s a bad move. Horses for courses etc.
does the DSA examiners have the power to revoke a licence, god help you guys if they do and give the same power to VOSA officers! I think the Highways and Vosa should merge joint powers and nick all dodgey companies and praise good companies etc

No. As far as I know only the courts and DVLA can do that.

Motoring services agency “MSA” vca vehicle certification agency most likely to be merged also.
Highways agency to be privatised, but not conformed.
Bit of a strange one for vosa, there is “testing” and “Enforcement” the DSA and VOSA merger is more to the vosa testing
side, and that is also on its way out to the private sector.

If it ends up privatised then you can expect a lot more red tape and hoops to jump through whilst they attempt to hit their commercial targets (sorry, objectives) and it will of course be self financing, self policing and another job for a senior cronie (initials BB maybe in the frame) and another government department gone west to reduce costs.

The merger seems in part to have been driven by poor communication over the Driver CPC (surprise)
DSA boss Rosemary Thew is leaving and VOSA boss Peoples is staying…so DSA will probably merge into VOSA.
Our CPC instructor said that VOSA are moving more towards punitive action instead of Warnings for discepancies in driver knowledge on defects due to all of us having to have a full CPC qualification by next year. So, I’m guessing it’s bringing the DSA to make sure they can get their pound of flesh if you haven’t got a fast enough excuse as to how you know your brake lights were working when you left the Yard.
