Volvo vs Daf

Can anyone inlighten me on the pros and con of a Volvo Fh and a Daf Xf?

volvo better drive train with a great auto box

daf far superior cab, unbeatable bunk and storage space

daf cheaper to buy

daf does have problems with air valves and head gaskets on the XF95

In a NUT SHELL… Dafs are a bag ov [zb]

Volvo :bulb:

Volvo

As a driver, I like them both. The Daf SuperSpace cab is probably the best cab on the road in terms of living space.

They both have their foibles but I personally don’t consider Volvos to be worth the 20%+ extra in purchase price over the Daf.

Pay for what you get … That’s why Volvo cost more

I would go for the DAF all day long, especially the superspace 105 xf. Don’t go for the 410 brake version as it is woefully underpowered. The volvo has the benefit of a slightly better finish and better gearbox but if that’s what you are buying a Volvo for why not get a much cheaper Renault?

that’s because you want a weird configuration, but, in general, a 6x2 tractor unit XF SSC v GTXL, the XF is cheaper every time

last time i was given a price for a GTXL, it was £78,000, whereas a XF SSC was £70,000

are you calling a 6x2 rigid, 5.4 - 5.5m wheelbase, lifting rear axle a weird configuration

I was comparing a CF and a FM :grimacing:

personally Denis, i think the dealer has a lot to do with it too

i was quoted £70,500 for a CF Skycab 6x2 with a 460 from one dealer, but £65,500 for the exact same spec from another dealer

also, a quick point, the price i quoted for the XF SSC of £70,000 is from the same dealer that quoted £70,500 for the CF Skycab :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

regarding the CF Skycabs, they were both order trucks, not stock items, i specced them and had to wait for a price to come back from DAF

they were both identical spec, but when the price came back, there was £5000 difference between the two dealers

regarding the XF SSC, the dealer orders 25 at a time and gets them slightly cheaper and can pass on the saving, so, they would be a stock item, but, they would also be basic spec, if you wanted anything more than basic spec from the factory, the cost would be quite a bit greater

The Volvo dealer doesn’t have the greatest reputation so that doesn’t say much for the Daf dealer
