Yes as Lance said most were 240 G88’s. There was a bloke that had a left hook F89, but it had to have special permits to use on public roads…

Lance Biscombe posted some very interesting F88 pictures on the Lance Biscombe Bulk Haulage thread. The unit featured has been imported from Oz and has a 9-speed Fuller 'box (yeah!). Robert0

m no expertI am!
It was 1 of only 50 F88 290’s imported to AUSTRALIA by VOLVO in 1976. A bit odd as they usually imported G cab 88 240s at the time]
Hey, thanks, saw an 111 Scanny nose right hand drive here in the pics, did you have them in Australia ■■? Never seen ever.

I saw it yesterday hauling gravel from Borals quarry at Brighton.
I was speaking to Jim about it, as far as he knew the Hydro had 4 of them but dew to the work they were on ( erecting power poles and running cables in remote locations ). Their was a high mortality rate, and that one is the last remaining one in Australia. He said there is still another one barley visible sticking out a bog out near Bathurst Harbour ( very remote ) south west Tasmania I posted some shots I took in his yard on the Scania 140 111 thread…There are also some photos on the " Trucks of Tasmania and Australia " thread…

Eric,
Hi all, This is one of the motors from the company I work for back when they had a plant hire company. Unfortunately they shut the plant hire side back in the 90’s but still have an electric vehicle business where I am the driver/demonstrator. Still Run a Volvo, which is an FM9 and drag
Access man:
I hope you don’t mind me butting in, I don’t know what the protocol is on these sites as its my first attempt, my late father had a volvo F88 when I was around 7-10 about 1974 to 1977 it was an early model with the metal grill and the wipers above the screen, as far as I can remember the wipers were a bit unreliable as they were powered by air. I would love to have a picture of it if it still exists but don’t have any reg no, the only thing I have is when he sold it it was in dark royal blue with sign writing on the door. T M Banks haulage, wingletang, mill lane, Barningham, suffolk written in white in a curved style, this was done by Chapple signs of Stowmarket.
He used to pull out of Felixstowe, sometimes with his brother Tony and they used to move escalators at one point.I did say it was a long shot,
Loved reading the comments and looking at the photos brings back great memories, I would love to have a truck, what sort of money do they make?
Hello Access man. I hope your uncle Tony is well. Jim McCluskey jnr ex Fridged Freight of Diss. The last time I saw him, he was delivering an escalator to Marks and Sparks in Bury St Edmunds.
Well Worked! Chris

This old F88 has been ‘doing the rounds’ for a few years now on timber haulage. Caught it during bad weather on the A45 near Northampton. Not perfect pictures but had no time to think, point and click !!! Pure luck it was in view finder !!
The other picture was snapped while up in Scotland, still a few F88’s around then but rare enough to make me reach for the camera !!
