It’s the same paint job, but none of the Kammac F10s were tags. They were mid-lift pushers as far as I can recall.
Sure were 6x2 midlifts

being a K reg, im sure that has got the wrong air stack on it, is it just because there is a ladder on the side of the cab.
On another note, i had a dream last night(no idea why?!) that i was driving an F16 again… now, the one i did really drive was an E reg with the flat straight dash, but i dreamt i was driving one of the last ones (with the wrap around dash), and it was a left ■■■■■■
My question is, has anyone got any interior photos of the latter F series, especially the dash.
LHD or RHD will do, LHD prefered. Thanx.
Carl, I had a couple of square headlight Globetrotters, well three actually, two 12s and a 16, the newest one was an H plate LHD F12, it had the newer dash but still had the old style air stack as did the older ones. They look better than the wraparound style I reckon, especially with the sticky out intake grilles
bigr250 (Ross) has a 92 F16 he’s renovating, send him a PM, I’m sure he’ll send you a picture to make your dreams more accurate in future

Her’s another for you B.Y. fans!
I think Brian Broadwell ended up with that one!!!

yeah, that was a weird dream, i cant remember where i was going either
i personally prefer the wrapround air stack 100%.
I didnt know they did the old air filter with the new dash, i 'spose you learn something everyday!
My 16 was square headlight, but had the old airstack as it was an E reg, no limiter!!! i will pm Ross to fill a blank in!

Could it be this dash you asked for, it´s from an F16 with square headlights.

All F16’s were square headlight, there’s a photo on trucknet somewhere of the Ereg Volvo demonstrator & that was a square headlight, the air filter was the same across all models (I think) it was only the ‘stack’ that was changed around 1990 to the plastic wrap around type (which I prefer as well) this was about a year before the later dash came in.

Mine was on an F plate so had the old dash, which I much preferred, you could get a lot of tapes in that middle tray. It had the warning lights for the ABS on the centre part of the dash where the splitter switch was on the first models of F10 and 12. AFAIK it was the first lorry to have the seperate suzie for ABS, even though I never saw a trailer with the corresponding plug until the mid 90s and by then I had slung away the ABS suzie as it used to tangle the other ones up when in the stowed position
Let’s see how nerdy you lot are, there is one thing that guarantees that this is in fact an F16 and not a 10 or 12, can you tell me what it is
And Carl and Ross, sorry but the old upright air stack was better looking than that curvy thing, trust me, I know about these things

hi all,
the 1989 s ride f16 that i owned, had a trailer deadman factory fitted on the steering column.i am guessing that’s an f16 only fitment?tbh i can’t see anything else in that later dash. photo ,mine had the older type dash and wrap around intake.in my heavily bias opinion, the f16 globetrotter is/was the finest european truck built in the last 25 years.
regards andrew.

I’m with Andrew here in that I can’t see anything in this pic that is exclusive to the F16, mine also has the trailer brake on the column which I’m told was fitted to nearly all ‘lefties’ and not so many rhd trucks.
Could it be the ‘Multi function’ LCD pannel that replaces the small round dials on the normal dash, a mate of mine had a 1992 F16 Ambassador which has this fitted BUT!! I know of at least 2 F12’s that had this type of instruments so it can’t be that.

Hi Ross,
I drove a demonstrator geartronic fl10 that had that lcd panel,so I don’t think it can be that either:?:
Regards Andrew.
Was the F16 fitted with a dash rocker switch for the EPG {exhaust pressure governor},that would then make the engine exhaust brake work automaticly?
Or was it opperated by a button on the floor?
You can only just see it, well I can anyway, but there’s a pull stop for the engine down by the gearstick, the F16 was the only Volvo at that time that never turned off with the key
The later 500s were EDC I think? So they would’ve stopped and started on the key, hope that pic don’t turn out to be one of those models

The ‘knob’ that you can only just see is the tickover / hand throttle controll, on all Volvo’s the engine stop ‘pull cable’ was below the hand throttle & to the best of my knowledge, all F16’s turn off on the key, I could be wrong as it’s been 25 years since I drove the original F16 demo but my 500 definately turns off on the key.

I got a brand new F12 Intercooler to drive in 1983, and it had the old wire system to stop the engine. Is it possible that the electric engine stop in the key came with the face lift in 1987?
Here´s a part of a picture from a brochure published in 1983 where the engine “stop pull cable” is easier to see, and the splitter is moved to the gearstick from the dash board

Here’s where I show how much of an anorak I am, that picture isn’t an F12 intercooler, (probably an F10) as it’s got an SR62 gear lever rather than the SR70 12 speed that the ‘intercooler’ would be fitted with!!
Ross.
Heres a picture of the first globetrotter i bought new,at a cost of just over £36 grand in 1986. The other globetrotters behind were purchased second hand and put in our spec. i dont know if this picture has been posted before but i still like the two tone blue and red colour scheme. By the way if any body knows where there is a round headlight F12 globetrotter for sale i would be interested in buying one for preservation.

It’s a shame you weren’t looking for one in the middle of last year as this beauty was for sale in southern France, it’s an ex funfair 385 F12 & if I hadn’t already bought my F16 I’d have snapped this lovely thing up. I had pic’s of the inside and it was a really well kept example throughout & the cab had absolutely no rust whatsoever.
